Villain is 30/10, probably a pretty weak player. Not very aggressive at all. I know this is insta fold, but i need assurance.

Why are we calling on the flop?

Adx loses a lot of value on the turn and I can see calling on the flop only to see what he does on the turn. The passive types aren't willing to bet so strong consecutive streets with draws.

I call the flop because minraises can mean so much but most likely after the turn bet we're definately beat.

Fnord I've usually seen loose-passives shutdown on semi-bluffs when they whiff the turn. So sometimes you'll get to showdown cheaply vs Ad-x hands.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

    No hindsight for the blind.
So do we give a free card on the turn if he checks?

I dont usually; but we could if we don't pay off another diamond or think he'll call with a worse hand.

I guess it's time to display my noobiness at SHNL....

I don't see any other option except to call here. Raising seems stupid since we are probably either racing or way behind. His basic minraise is either a semibluff which he won't fold or a made hand which we are basically drawing dead to.

Folding seems stupid since he could so easily be betting the Adx here.

I call and reevauluate the turn.

    Meh this is fine.

If I *really* wanted to stack off here, I'd wait till a safe turn like the one we got to committ.

I'd give a free card on the turn here almost 100% of the time.

Villain earned it by raising the flop ; now getting stack-a-donked would be tragic.

Chard your post makes a lot of sense. Stop berating yourself!

I would have played it exactly the same for the same reasons Chardrian gave.

I must have played against completely different opponents than you guys because in my experience, people who check-raise the flop, make a big bet on a blank turn well over 80% of the time, and the percentage is even higher if the player is bad. If "call and re-evaluate" means "call and fold to a big turn bet" then the flop call is horrible IMO.

Do these just barely more than a min-raise type bets scare anyone else? To me it seems like they're always the nuts.
