Default Man I must really suck - HH's Included - Feedback wanted

I don't know why but I can't seem to win anymore. I dropped another buyin after playing for almost 2 hours 4 tabling. This shit is really starting to frustrate me. I don't even feel like I'm playing bad, although I'll be the first to admit I'm far from perfect. Here are the key hands of the session, comments are badly wanted.

Hand 1: I don't always reraise AK, but in position I felt it was a good play. The original raiser called and checked a raggedy flop. I tried to rep the overpair but he called me on the flop, and I figured that he would fold a lot of hands here. Once he called I just shut down because I don't think he's going to fold to another bet and I'm not about to try. Should I even be making plays like this at 25nl?

Hand 2: Reraise a button raiser with JJ, and it was an ok flop for me if he didn't have a king. I made a cont. bet to see where I stood which he quickly called. I checked the turn and he checked behind, and that's when I thought he didn't have a K. After a long deliberation I called his pot-sized river bet and of course he showed me KJ. In hindsight maybe I should have folded, but it really felt like a bluff and I went with my gut. Bad call or what?

Hand 3: This is why 25NL drives me nuts, people making these calls with any two suited cards that manage to flop some strange two pair. Is there anything I can do about this? Should I just assume I'm beat and fold to his raise? Him being shortstacked made me feel committed to calling off the rest. I don't know what to do in these situations anymore. Maybe a smaller bet and fold to a raise? I don't know.

Hand 4: I don't think there is possibly a worse flop here for AA, but I called the flop to see what the turn brought and how he reacted. He overbet the pot a little bit, and I just decided to fold it. Good fold? Should I raise the flop to see where I stand and check behind on the turn if he calls when he checks to me?

Hand 5: I limped 78s on the button trying to see a cheap flop with a bust-em hand in position. I flopped top two pair and bet out, the BB called. He lead out weak on the turn so I raise him with top two. I put him on either two pair or something like T9, I wanted to see where I was at on the turn which was why I raised. He called. The turn brought four to a straight although that card was unlikely to have helped him. He made a puny bet into the pot and I felt obliged to at least call. Of course he flips over bottom set. Anything I can do here?

Lately I don't feel like I can win anymore. The players at this level are so bad but they still manage to beat me. I'm down two buyins over the last two days and nothing is going right. I want to move up to 50NL but not if I can't beat the idiots at this level. I'm still up almost 8 buyins over at PP but the past two days have really been disheartening. I would really like some feedback on how I played these hands, ty.

I don't think any of these hands were played bad. I might have called that turn bet with AA, actually - I would have raised the flop. And it could easily have been worse: QJT all 1 suit that you don't have!

Hands 1 and 2 are pretty similar... I think you can consider betting the turn here, especially with JJ. Then you can check/fold the river if you feel you are beat.

The hands look fine - nothing you can do. Two buyins is nothing. I lose two buyins in a matter of minutes sometimes. You have to be able to handle large swings (much greater than 2 buyins) to play 6max. You can play perfect poker and go down 2+ buyins quick. I hate losing money too and start to doubt myself when on a downswing, but I don't think you should go on a nature hike to find yourself just yet. Just play good poker and things will work out.

Default Re: Man I must really suck - HH's Included - Feedback wanted

Hand 1 is fine. looks like he had a small pair above the board. I rarely ever reraise AK and sometimes fold it preflop. It simply has little value in a deep stacked game. In 25NL it is a big hand because worse aces will pay you off, but typically if you are playing a big pot with AK, you are losing.

Hand 2: If this c-bet gets called, I am generally done with the hand. Pot sized river bets (as well as overbets) are almost never bluffs, unless you have some previous knowledge that your opponent is capable of suck a bet. He checked behind the turn because he was afraid of a check raise.

Hand 3: The reraise is not enough to make you fold. You are good here more than half the time, the other times you lose. Get used to losing these hands.

Hand 4: This fold is fine. You don't want to play for stacks on this board with one pair.

Hand 5: I lose WAY more money on this hand than you do. Feel lucky he didn't re-raise your turn bet.

How many hands is "2 days?" I lost 5 buy ins at 200NL in my first 2k hands there. It happens. I have lost 2 buy ins in one hand before. It happens. Poker is a game of luck with just enough skill that some of us can make enough profit to beat the rake. Most don't. Play more hands, get more accustomed to the swings, think of poker as a hobby, and not a source of income. It takes years to get good at this game.

    Good Luck.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I'm still working on handling the swings of poker. I can stomach losing a few buyins, it just sucks to play for 2 hours and lose money, makes you feel like you can't win. Live and learn I guess.
