Default Are my bluffs retarded or am I on my way to pwnage

Should I stop making these plays or was this an ok bluff? I just can't tell, with hindsight, whether this was a good spot to try this.

Villain is totally unknown and I have not tangled with him at all and have not seen him get out of line in the couple of orbits he has been here.

I have no stats on villain.

A wise man once told me c/r'ing a flop and checking the turn was the weakest play in poker. I don't understand why you think you are bluffing and why your hand wouldn't still be good.

I honestly don't know. I didn't think anyone was calling the flop with a hand that I beat. I thought villain was on an overpair or 77 and could not see him calling a reasonable river bet given the texture of the board.

Re: the C/R & turn check. It was a weak play and I did it because I was unsure of exactly what I was going to do. I hadn't made my mind up whether i was going to bluff or not. I am still trying to learn the best spots for bluffing and controlling the pot, which I think go hand in hand.

Thanks for your comments. I d appreciate them, good or bad. (yours were good by the way)

    No hindsight for the blind.
A wise man also said that if you're gonna make a big move, it's very preferable to have a read on your opponent.
