Default my first aces at 200NL

ok, here goes. what do you think. T1 tended to be very aggressive at times, more often preflop, but generally pretty decent, though he'd just lost a buy-in (he was at 450 10 hands ago). and, the 5 dollar preflop raise was big enough that i was planning on 1-2 callers, 8 tended to be scarier to people.

    If I had a hammer

I think the preflop raise was fine (considering there was only the BB left to act and you dont want to discourage action).

Why not get it all in on the turn after he reraised you? He could have the King with a flushdraw now and its clear he likes his hand so get the money in while you are ahead.

    because i'm a vagina.

but, could a slowplay be in order there? If i just fire back a push on the turn there's a higher chance of him getting spooked IMO than on the river. Its reasonably clear he's got ak or at least a good king, and he only has two outs and they're obvious. if he has KT he's only drawing to 4 outs on the turn, but he called my raise preflop and raised me on the flop, so KT is really a longshot.

Raise more pre-flop. Opponent could easily have you crushed with a 3 here.

so if i raised to 8 instead of 5 would you no longer worry about a 3?

I'd be less worried if you made it $8 ... make it $10 and you're probably good. A 2xBB PFR from the SB will get called in both spots here probably 70-80% of the time. For what it's worth I'd call 2xBB with A3s in the BB and probably with 34s too if I thought that UTG was going to call as well.

When he raised you on the turn, what did you put him on? Also, on the river, was your play to try to get all your money in or did you want a cheap showdown? Your "oh well" comment makes me think you were looking for a cheap showdown in which case you might have tried check-calling here.

Anyways, what did he have, a King or a 3?

i would guess he has KT... fits into his style as you mentioned above. An OK hand at best but since he is aggressive preflop he puts in a small raise. Just calls on the flop bc he is unsure of his kicker, then likes the turn with his two pair. Only other hand i would be able to put him on is A3 suited.

interested to see what he actually had...

Would it be wrong to check and call the river here? Its hard telling whether your ahead or not but at least by check calling you are giving more weak hands a chance to bet/bluff. Your big bet on the river makes it harder for weak hands to pay off your aces but easy for big hands to raise you all in.
