Is my HU that bad?

Alright fellow SnG grinders... I have hit a sore spot in these past two days, I have played 23 two table 15 dollar turbo SnG's and I am having some problems taking down first... its very frustrating and im gonna post some HH of my hu play to see where i went wrong cause its drivin me up a wall...

I have came in 4th - 0, 3rd - 2, 2nd- 6, 1st - 0

That is horribly ugly its 62% roi and 34% Itm but i am still not happy with that because the fact is I am not that horrible of a HU player i didnt think i was that bad at all...

I know at these point in the tournaments its push/fold but is my play that bad or is it just my fuckin luck...? I know its not a big field its just been frustrating as hell...

I assume its bad luck but a post wouldnt be hated

Well based on what I read you don't seem bad, but it could use some work. In all of these examples, the blinds are HUGE in comparion to stack sizes, putting the shortstack for sure in push/fold mode. You have to make a stand somewhere so it comes down to the cards.

Just a few things I noticed. Calling raises OOP with minor hands. For example:

I know it only a min raise and you have odds to call, but Q3 is a junk hand. I could see calling with a hand like suited connectors, but that min raise looks so ridiculous it would be better to attack it preflop. HU is all about aggression. Not reckless aggression, but aggression when necessary. 2/3 of the time you miss the flop. 2/3 of the time your opponents misses as well. Attack weakness, don't be afraid. This is what I have learned.

In a SnG I will be very very tight and making moves until it gets to 3 way, and once it gets to heads up, I wake up.

If you're going to call the flop bet, you mine as well raise. Just calling a gssd is sort of weak. On the turn you hit a good card and got top pair, but checked. I would lead that out. The river isn't a scare card so I would have bet it too, but if he had a draw on the turn you could have gotten more out of him.

You had some bad beats in there. A lot of those you got your hand in there to win 60/40 or so, which is good in the long wrong. The way it ended sucks, but it happens!

A lot of your problems are bad luck, but you also have a problem HU in my opinion. You make too many moves with inferior hands, and don't always put the pressure on with good hands. Unless your stack is really small, don't go all in with crap.

62% ROI? Is this a typo cuz that seems real high to me. On my best week ever I had an ROI of 29.9%. I didn't actually do the calculation on yours because I don't know the money placements, but if it is 62% ROI then don't be upset at all. On avg I have an ROI of 14%-19%.

The M=5 rule still applies heads up. Push or fold. Guess your opponents range, and call when you think you have any edge. You can push anything if villian is tight... but be careful if you are the short stack. He can just wait for the A and call you down. Often, the blinds are big enough to catch up if he folds.

Q3 is not really a crap hand heads up. ... well, the 3 is pretty bad, but the Q is good. Q3o better than JTs heads up! (by a tiny amount)

Ya didn't really mean Q3 is the worst hand ever, but calling a raise with it is sorta weak. I would either fold or reraise was the main point.

I didnt look through the HH, but I think the sample size is pretty small. I had a similar fit with bubbling out when I first moved up to the $20's, thought I was doing something wrong. I didn't really change my play too much, and it ended up coming around. That's just my opinion without reading HHs, I think 23 games isn't enough to say. You're getting paid big time in that 23 sample, so not placing 1st isn't a big deal imo.

I don't think i would bet here. You have been raising with a pretty wide range of hands, are u trying to rep an ace, yet u didn't raise preflop. If you had hit the flop, it makes more sense for u to have bet the flop. This just seems too much like a steal bet to me, that your opponent may call if he has a low pair with a draw.
