Default Open shove with A7o ?

I'm sweatin with my friend, meanwhile my other friend (whose screen we can't see) announces: "Heads up."

    Game $2 9 sng FT

Two minutes later... "I'm all in."
    Me: "What you got?"
    Hero: "A7[o]."

    So,

    Hero sb 6600
    Villain 6900 vp 30+ pr 20+
    BB 200

Opinions? Pleae avoid acronyms in repsonses for benefit of hero.

I have no idea whats going on with your hh. Please edit so it's clearer.

    example,

    Hero (stacksize)
    Villain (stack size)

    Blinds=

    Dealt to hero: Xx Xx

    SB Action
    BB Action

    Flop Xx Xx Xx

    etc...

Also if this is live poker we have a specific forum designed for live hand history's and if this is a regular 9 man sit and go we have a forum for that as well.

This is actually an issue I have HU in single table tournies too. It is hardly ever good to shove ace-rag when you're around equal stacks at 100/200 (with or without ante since it's pretty irrelevant).

if those vpip/pfr stats are for the whole game and this guy sucks (you should know by now) you should outplay him HU while you are still somewhat deep. Not shove in a spot where you are likely behind.

Firstly the important stat (or thing we need to infer) is their calling % or range for calling your shove. call pre-flop raise can give us an idea.

The thing is A7o does awfully against this range (generally):

    A8+ = crushing us
    77++= crushing us
K8+ (as well as any two cards above 7) = we are barely ahead

    A7o vs top 20% is 43% equity..

so A7o sucks as a value shove.
and if your opponent is calling wider than 20% this deep just wait for a better hand and shove it!

The thing that would make A7o a good shove would be if effective stacks were shorter (one player only has 10 to say 15 big blinds). A7o would be a good shove if one player had 3000-4000 left in chips and the blinds were 200/400/25ante. You aren't necessarily getting more value when called but you are picking up alot of equity when you just take down the blinds. Calling ranges of your opponent might also widen to the point that this is a value shove when they are short.

Also Sngwiz is all about push/fold and there's a 30 day trial..

hope that helps.. wow I think I just convinced myself never to open-shove crap HU ever again at micro sngs... sorry for the rant!

[edit] meeloche: he's referring to a 9 man on FT I think. Perhaps move to sng forum?

He did say "we couldn't see his screen" so I don't think it's live. But he also said there was someone with him.. I dunno I still don't know what hes asking to be honest. Absolutely such a vague description of a hand.
