Default overbets and pushes, "playing for stacks"

i took a stab at some NL tables tonight on FT. 200 hands, so nothing significant, but my friend (who frequents the 1k tables) had something interesting to say. here was our msn convo:

    4/5/2007 7:42:20 PM hyper: OOOHHHHHH
4/5/2007 7:42:22 PM hyper: STACKED SOMEONE

4/5/2007 7:42:27 PM friend: feels good eh?
    4/5/2007 7:42:31 PM hyper: damn
4/5/2007 7:42:34 PM hyper: that felt so good
    4/5/2007 7:42:43 PM hyper: 22 vs AK

4/5/2007 7:42:51 PM friend: he got it all in with 22?
    4/5/2007 7:42:56 PM friend: daamn
    4/5/2007 7:43:25 PM hyper: no i did
    4/5/2007 7:43:29 PM hyper: flopped a set

4/5/2007 7:43:32 PM friend: ohhh haha
    4/5/2007 7:43:39 PM hyper: i bet
4/5/2007 7:43:41 PM hyper: he raised
    4/5/2007 7:43:44 PM hyper: i reraised a lot
4/5/2007 7:43:45 PM hyper: he calls
4/5/2007 7:43:48 PM hyper: i push the turn
4/5/2007 7:43:50 PM hyper: he calls
4/5/2007 7:43:56 PM hyper: my line was like OBVIOUS set

4/5/2007 7:44:04 PM friend: yea dude,
4/5/2007 7:44:06 PM hyper: i don't know how he could call that
4/5/2007 7:44:09 PM friend: just start shoving the flop
4/5/2007 7:44:13 PM friend: it makes it more confusing
4/5/2007 7:44:19 PM friend: espicially if there's a flush draw out there.
4/5/2007 7:44:22 PM hyper: but i wanna make monies
4/5/2007 7:44:44 PM friend: I guess, but good players are going to fold AQ, AJ in that spot.
4/5/2007 7:45:05 PM friend: whereas if you just shove, they'll think you're on a draw b/c no one with a set would logically do that.
4/5/2007 7:45:54 PM friend: What if he just calls your reraise and the flush comes
4/5/2007 7:45:58 PM friend: and you shove?
4/5/2007 7:46:05 PM friend: now he has a chance to get away from his hand
4/5/2007 7:46:06 PM hyper: i cry and shove
4/5/2007 7:46:15 PM hyper: and hope i fill up

4/5/2007 7:46:18 PM friend: much more profitable to shove the flop.
    4/5/2007 7:46:36 PM hyper: dunno
4/5/2007 7:46:39 PM hyper: if i had AK on the flop
    4/5/2007 7:46:41 PM hyper: i can't justify calling

4/5/2007 7:46:57 PM friend: what are you afraid of?
    4/5/2007 7:46:59 PM friend: 2 pair,
    4/5/2007 7:47:00 PM friend: set.
    4/5/2007 7:47:01 PM friend: that's it
4/5/2007 7:47:11 PM friend: you have outs for 2 pair
4/5/2007 7:47:19 PM friend: and if he has a set then it's a cooler.
    4/5/2007 7:47:24 PM friend: I can't justify folding.

So what flops are these? A82? I mean, I feel like if a good player overbet shoves into me on that flop im going to get away from AK. On the other hand, if you find away to balance this move effectively im wondering if this is in fact better than the standard way.

in my case, the flop was A2x with 2 flush. i don't think it should make too much of a difference unless it was something like AKQ 2 flush.
