Default Overpair, flush board line check

Villian was 44/13 over 40 hands with him.

The raise seemed too small to me on the flop to be a set with the flush board out there so I figured I was most likely ahead against a straight draw or a pair+flush draw. I planned on check bombing the turn with a safe card.

    Good, bad?

If you think you are ahead, get it in on the flop. His range could be so many different draws so on the turn, how are you going to know what a safe card is? Also, how do you know your opponent would bet a blank card? If he really is drawing and is in position, wouldnt it make sense for him to check behind on a blank? By checking you are giving him another chance to hit his draw and I just cant imagine you are going to be able to safely c/r the turn often at all.

Ya, I'm still unsure what to do. If you do correctly put him on a pair plus flush draw or fd+oesd, pushing the flop you are basically a coinflip (little ahead, little behind depending on his straight possibilities or ace).

    So flop push = 50/50 +/- 5%
Turn = 67% chance of gaining about 70/30 advantage by dodging 15 of villians outs

Do you fair better hoping you are slight flop favorite or leading/pushing turn on a hopeful safe card or hoping opp is willing to bet turn?

Edit: Wait, can't forget that pot equity thing. If I push flop I could possibly just scoop the $15 right there or if he calls I'd be investing $42 to win $59 on a flip. Does this make it clear push then?
