Default QJ suited, flop flush draw.. but..

Okay so the hand looks something like this.

    QJ early position

    2 other players in.

    180 in the pot preflop.

    Flop 3h,4s,7s

    40 raise, call call.

    Turn 5.

    Raise 175, call 175 I fold here

    River 10 of spades.

Now normally I woulda called that in a blink, with 2 overs, but with the definate straight by someone I would have had to hit the flush.

I did, and now I feel stupid.

Someone tell me I played this right. or kill me for playing it wrong and tell me why I played it wrong.

It's gonna bug me all day.[/b]

You felt you were behind and decided not to chase the non-nut flush. Instead, you saw the flush come and feel you lost on a big pot - that's a leak as you are being too results oriented.

Trust your reads and realize 60-70% of the time you make this fold to someone holding a straight, you won't make the flush anyway.

Um ... he folded on the turn, so its even worse than you're thinking. He's only making this flush around 18% of the time, if no one else is on a flush draw. If someone is on a higher flush draw and the other player has a straight, he's drawing dead.

Ahh, didn't realize that, thanks michael... yeah, that's a solid fold. I think what is missing is a description of the layout (are these laggy or tight players) but even still, this is an easy fold... especially not only with the big bet, but the call (and was this an instant or long thought call?)

Not very, at the point of the fold I was only in the hand for about $100. Thats why I didn't feel bad folding.

I violated personal protocol and watched the hand after I folded.

I think he meant how deep were the stacks?

i think you should start playing much lower limits. after reading this post and another from you i think you need to learn a lot more of the basic concepts, and high stakes game is probably not the best place to do this.

Um, dude, I know you're king of EARNING $7000 IN ONE DAY OMG but don't you think watching other players at showdown might actually help your reads and stuff?
