Imagine the exact same hand but you having KK and try to figure out what would happen post-flop.

You didn't include any reads or reasons that would justify your unusual play.

There is rarely ever a time to limp pre, I'm doubting this is one of them.

Well mainly I couldnt get the opp into a hand, any aggresive play by me and it was instant fold. So I decided to take a chance and slow play a big hand, yes I got lucky and it was an unusual play which is why I posted it.

The old adage 'play your strong hands weak and your weak hands strong ' comes to mind.

Heads up, surely its a good to mix up your play and avoid the obvious.

Yes I agree to limp pre flop with this hand is normally a bad play but sometimes it pays to mix it up a bit. The opp would have folded to ANY raise which was frustrating me. Had an overcard hit the flop I could easily have gotten away cheaply.
I wanted to win more than the blinds with this hand on this occaison so took a gamble. It was great flop for me as the opp hit 2 pair and could not get away from the hand.

Well, then you played it right. You should tell that as soon as you started the thread, and no one would say that you played it badly.

This is an old adage, or a common misconception. Don't bet your big hands and spew on bad. Sounds like a recipe for getting crushed.

Fair enough, in my defence Im new to the forum and was unaware of the protocols.

    Lesson learned

I mean, it is logical. Even in life, you can't say something unusual without explaining it because everyone will think you are an idiot.

Is it really that unusual though?
I mean to limp in with high pockets in a low limit heads up game?
It seems to happen to me quite often, bearing in mind statistically you miss the flop something like 60 - 70% of the time.
Surely against a weak opp you must do your upmost to keep them in the hand.
A lag will likely call your pre flop raise anyway, so as always it depends on your read of the opp, plus the size of the blinds.

If you are constantly raising OTB then you should continue to do so with your big hands, if you limp a lot then you can get away with limping I guess.

I like to limp the button a lot in HU sng's. I'll do it with big pairs, small connectors, and actually a lot of Axo hands, especially against loose 3bettors. I just feel my edge is so great postflop that I want to have as much money left behind when I'm playing postflop, plus when you're like 30bb deep or less you really don't need the help of a PFR to get the money in over 3 streets.
