    Default 'roll control for 6-max

OK, so I'm considering embarking on an accelerated Tour de Stakes over the next year. I have been playing 25 NL recently because of the gutting my bankroll took from last March - this one. But my feet are back under me, I'm about to move to 50 NL, and from there I want to grow rapidly. I've played 100 NL regularly in the past so I don't think this is unrealistic for me.

What I want to know is, do you think this is a sound bankroll/growth plan? Too cautious, not cautious enough, or what?

I want to move up each time I hit 22 buyins at the next level. Currently I've got $1050 on Party so I'm just about there. If I drop down to 18 buyins for that level, I will move back down until I get back up to 22 - that gives me a 4 buyin cushion just in case things start off a little badly. So now, once I make $50 more, I will move up to 50 NL; if I drop down to $900, back to 25 NL until I get back up to $1100 again.

If I do this I want to be pretty strict with myself about it. Part of my recent bankroll-gutting was just from taking the money out, but another part of it resulted from a short burst of playing above my means, a few really bad tilt sessions, and then a couple months of foul negativity when my downswing wouldn't correct itself. I feel like I'm working on a discipline project for myself, and this is going to be a big chunk of that.

    So?

Sounds good to me. Good luck.

I'd probably be more comfortable with 30+ buy-ins when you get above 100Nl. Variance tends to increace as the stakes do.

Yeah, I'd probably play more in the 30ish buyin zone. I'm a nit thought and like a deep BR for 6max.

    Downswinging holla!
You could get away with playing with 10-15 buyins at 25-50nl. At 100nl and up you need 20 buyins at the least IMO.

Your plan sounds good. I was playing 25NL just Feb of this year after basically destroying my own BR but am now rolled for 3/6. You will move up fast as shit. Don't be afraid to take shots at 20 buyins though up to 400NL. I attacked 200NL at $4k and 400NL at $8k. The first few shots I took at 200 and 400 were disastrous but eventually you will run good and get yourself 30+ buyins. Good luck, and its good to see you moving up again.

Oh, one thing that helps is goal-setting. Set yourself a reasonable bb/100 at each level (take into consideration how many tables youre playing) and then set time frames for moving up to each level. Even if you give yourself a lower bb/100 than you realistically expect, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how fast you can move up.

Thanks for the feedback. I like the idea of going deeper at higher stakes, especially since I don't have any experience with 200 NL really (just a couple ill-advised sessions). So I think I'll stick with my 22 buyin plan until I reach 100 NL, and then bump that up to 32/28 instead of 22/18.

this sounds pretty much identical to what happens to me. and i'de be interested in finding out if what you are trying would correct one of my bigger problems with poker.

I would reccommend pulling most of your roll out of Party Poker into Neteller ASAP for two reasons.
    1) When Party offers a reload, you can take advantage and grow your roll that much faster.
    2) You will be less likely to jump into games that are outside your roll when you don't have that much money readily accessable in your party account. You will have to actually transfer the money, which will make it one step harder to play over your roll.
Other than that the bankroll management system you are planning is plenty sound. Good luck.

Which is what in your opinion at 400NL? Could I run at 6ptBB/100 if I was a good poker playing boy?

I'm not really sure to be honest, but I assume 6 is doable. I've only ran at 2.3 ptbb/100 during my last 53k hands at 400NL.
