Default small pairs heads-up: rippy, strangebird

was this a mistake: down to two, other player at 4600, me at 3400, blinds are 250/500, i go all-in with 33.

my thinking was: i have a better than average chance of winning the hand even over AK, as long as he doesn't have a pocket pair (i DON'T want to talk about the fact that he had cowboys!!! )

forgetting his KK for a second, over the long term - would this be a good call when heads up?

on the plus side, i was able to double up the third hand with rockets - that really took the pressure off.

thats a tough one. I like Pocket pairs heads up but 33 is just not strong enough for me.

I would have made the Pre-flop raise, but I probably wouldn't have gone back over the top of his re-raise. I think I would have called the raise and folded the flop.

I want to see a set with pocket pairs, hit it or fold. unless you've got a pocket pair that can beat the board, then i like to raise big. like JJ on a flop of 8,5,3.

7.5% he has a better pocket pair.

    Meh...

yeah - looking back, it wasn't the best call. if you were a short stack getting blinded to death, it wouldn't be a bad hand to make a stand with, but i was doing fine chip-wise.

interesting thing in that tourney: i had AA twice and so did another guy (not at the same time).

    thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, but what are the chances of you having a pocket pair AND so does the other guy in a 2 person game.

well either way, with a small pocket pair like 33 , you're either a slight favorite or a huge underdog, unless fishstick thought he had pocket two's or held a 2.
