    Default is this spew?

Home game .25/.50 blinds. Effective stacks just under 40 dollars. Villain is LAGGY and plays a lot of hands in position. He is a good thinking player, he is able to make laydowns. He will be able to ditch 2 pair but maybe not top two. Is this a decent play?

Dealt to hero on the CO
    UTG folds
    MP raises to 1.75
    Hero calls 1.75
    Button calls 1.75
    SB complets for 1.75
    BB folds

    Flop pot 7.50
    SB checks
    MP checks
    Hero bets 5
    Button calls 5
    SB folds
    MP folds

    Turn pot 17.50
    Hero checks
    Button bets 8.50
Hero raies all in for 33.50

i like it with your reads and when he bet smallish on the turn.

high variance though, not sure if i'd fold KQ with the pot size and a blank turn and a spread-out board like that, depends on reads.

I agree that an open push might be a better line in this situation. As played what hand am I representing...I don't think I check-raise with KQ here....AK is a possibility but my opponenet knows I usually 3-bet pre flop with this hand. A set of 9s or 5s is a possibilty but would I check and allow villain to check behind on a flush draw? I most likely would be betting out in this situation. I probalby would take this line with K9, or K5 but K5 isn't in my range here.

well played hand. i was going to say that betting the turn would also be good. but gabe says push allin.

i don't bet more than pot often in NL holdem. can you expand on this gabe. the allin is double the pot. would you never just pot here? why not?

also, would you ever bet this turn allin with any other hand against this opponent, gabe?

By pushing the turn here we get a lot more FE than if we just bet. If we get called we have the same amount of outs if we threw in a pot sized bet and got called.

For this play to work we need to play sets, straights and other big hands in the same way. Thats my take on it. I don't think I did a good job of disguising my hand, I need to play more of my big hands that aggressive. Villain put me on a draw and contemplated a long time before calling with 9h 3h...river was 5h and I lost a big pot.

Lol at somone folding 2pr in a home game with less than 100bb stacks.

He's not folding Kx here on that board. If you like getting your money in as nearly a 3.5:1 dog goooo ahead.

lol 6h not 5h...im just a donk and dont reread my posts to make sure they are accurate...i do it all of memory.

To bigspenda....eh I guess; but our home games consist of a solid group of about 6 players and then a bunch of donks that we take all their money. After the donks go broke the regulars keep playing all nite long and I do not think its unusual for someone to lay down 2 pair in this situation if they think they are beat. And you sound kind of condescending...basically your telling me my reads are inaccurate...trust me they are accurate I have played with this guy for the last 9 monthes about 2 times a week.

    what'd he call with?

Posted it earlier, 9h 3h. He thought about it a long time and kept saying he put me on a draw. He said if I am drawing he has a pair and a better draw. I think he was trying to feel out my reaction to the better draw becasue a 9h FD is not that great. After the game talking to him he said that he thought I could either have a draw, a set of 9s which was unlikely becasue he had a 9 and theres one on the board or a set of 5s. K9 is not that likey and if I do have it he has outs. K5 is not really in my range. He figured that with those hand ranges he could call and he did. It was a nice hand, what can I say. I wonder what would have happened if I pushed turn instead of check-raising. It would have made the hand a little more interesting.
