starting over
For some reason, everytime I pull away from poker for a few weeks and withdraw everything back to my bank account, I only ever re-deposit a [relatively] small amount ($600 to start now), thereby making me start at the lower limits again to fit my BR.
Goal: play mostly NL (mostly short-handed) ring, starting at at $25 NL, moving up to $50 at $1250 and then to $100 at $2500 (playing BR on the safeside, but we'll see).
I must say, however, that the few weeks off really did help crystalize many things for me, into the realm of good selective aggression, even pulling off a few good bluffs at the $25 level yesterday. (Unfortunately, my good hands got no play even after showing a few bluffs... so maybe it was just the weakness of the players, as opposed to me, but hey, I can dream!)
I also may mix in a few MTTs (I've played a few before though not very often at all, (relatively) often finishing ITM, but only ever making one final table. I think the time off has helped with that too. I played a $2 one last night on Party (a high-roller, I am ) and, though I finished OTM (barely), I don't think I made a single mistake, except for maybe one hand where my read was off (guy limped w/AQ, folded to me on the button w/AJs, so I raised, he called, I put him on a PP or a hand (probably) worse than mine, whatever. Didn't lose anything but the raise on that hand. Went out on someone chasing a gutshot and catching, it happens. But I felt really good after that tourney, regardless, and may have been one of the best I had ever played. Anyway, this paragraph is a bit off-topic.
Goal: $1250 (by the end of august? An average of 1 buy-in per night, I think I can do it :P )
Heck, maybe I'll try the NL short-stacked challenge, see if I can speed up the process a bit (quit when I get to $100 though (for now) )
