    Default Starting to play 6-max

I have dabbled in several games(MTT's, SnG's, 25NL Full) over the past several months. I have never consistantly made money. Over the past two weeks since my move to stars from party, I have tried out the micro (01/02 and 02/05) 6 max games. I have only had two sessions where I did not leave the table with more than my buy in. I generally like to see flops cheap and then go from there. Seems like taking a stab and winning the small pots with nothing is a little easier here for some reason.

2 questions (one dumb one not so dumb)
First the dumb...Have I found my game or could this just be a run of positive variance and the down swing is sure to come.
Second. Two of my worst single hand losses have come from a hand such as thisI'm at work so I can't post actual had, sorry)
    .05/.10
I am dealt 10J (lets say diamonds) in position. One caller, I limp, and blinds complete. (pot is .40) Flop comes 4 7 10 (one diamond). The first caller checks and I make 3xbet. One of the blinds will call and the other blind and the first caller folds. (pot is $1.00)
Now I'm heads up with TPGK. Turn comes 8 of diamonds. Now i have a TPGK and a Gut Shot and flush draw. What's my bet here? Twice I have bet, been called, missed the river, and have the villian show two pair 4's and 7's.
Again, sorry for not having the actual hand.

"I generally like to see flops cheap"

Does this translate to "I like to limp with crap"?

If you miss the river, you miss the river, it happens.

At these stakes, don't bother trying to bluff the pot if you miss your draw - you'll get paid off when you hit at these levels because people hate folding TPTK (or a really stupid 2 pair)

Not at all. I'm talkin suited connectors OOP, Suited one gappers in position, Axs, J10+ , maybe a few more in position.

So your saying that I should try to see the river cheap and when it does hit, bet hard?

Yeah, usually a pot bet will sort you out. Remember implied odds - If you're at a table full of shorties, or you have less than 4/5 the full buyin with you, suited connectors and Axs lose a huge amount of value.

    Raise more. Limp less.

At the lower limits limping a lot works if you play your made hands aggressively postflop. I don't play like that but I see plenty of winning players do that.

Sure I agree but you need to have a solid post flop game in order to have some idea where you are at in the hand. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is just starting 6max. Having said that it could certainly be a quick way to learn as long as you can sufficiently handle some variance.
