Does anyone see a check as good?
I think I check here to control the pot size. If I'm ahead, I'm likely to stay that way, but I don't like opening up the betting here when it seems very likely that my opponent could be on a flush draw, a stronger straight, or the same hand but willing to bet me off of the split.
The other benefit to checking is that I"ll probably induce a bluff from a weaker hand on the river. By checking I do commit myself to calling most reasonable bets on the river, but it will probably cost me the same as betting here and having to fold to the check raise, and will cost me less than betting here and getting called and then calling a bet on the river.
Does this make sense, or am I playing too pussyfied?
