table selection

what do you look for as a 'good' table in nl?

At the moment I've been trying to get tables with loose passives/bad laggs on my right, which is fairly obvious, but who do you want on your left?

Tagg regulars suck after a while because they start to float you.

Rocks I guess?

I just started playing again after nearly a years absence from the game and i've had pretty good results with having position on the larger stacks and making sure I have either rocks, multitabler's or my favorite, shortstacks. With shorty's they never know if you are simply stealing their blinds or if you have a real hand and they get skittish.

I just look for tables with less then 2 other regulars and a couple of guys with some Poker Tracker green around their name. I love the guys who are like 50/30 because they go broke in about 100 hands and everytime you sit at a tabe like this you get a certain piece of the action on average.

The main things I look for are a lack of regulars at the table. I assume everyone else is a fish.

Seat selection is less importnat IMO in nl because you just want to sit with a fish, punishment can come latter.

If I don't have reads on anyone when I sit down, I want the big stacks to my right. If I have some reads I want the Loose guys on my right as long as the have close to a full buyin.

This is a big advantage at Poker room skins. They play 5-max but you can choose any of the 10 seats. BIG BIG plus for seat selection.

But what do I know I have dropped 7 buyins this week in 200nl 5-max

Having position on a tricky player, particularly one who likes to three bet preflop a lot or float flops is very underrated. Of course, players I just described are far and few at 1/2 and below.

You can't really go wrong if you just sit at the tables with the biggest average pot size and then leave them if they don't seem fishy enough after a couple of orbits.

i agree with this. Its certainly a good point
But i think if understand Midas correctly hes worried about having loose/passives and loose players behind him in general which is a horrible spot to be in at a lhe table. It isnt in NL if you have the obvious adaptation skills to your post flop play.

I prefer low VPIPs with no larger than average stacks on my left.
