Default Tell me this was a good fold...

    Please...?

I'm not so sure about it. It looks like weak A... but it also looks like wiffed flush draw...

Villain just sat down, I have 8 hands on him. From those he's 40/0, but that means precisely dick. I overbet preflop, so this leads me to think an A is certainly possible. AK?

UTG calls $0.25, 2 folds, Hero raises to $1.75, BB calls $1.50, UTG folds.

if i was going to play it like this id have bet something on the river and have folded to a raise.
I dont know whether i like it though, too often he has Axshyte here for it to be worth the bother.

I agree - if you're not comfortable calling that bet, then make a block bet. I'm not sure it was a good fold as played but probably.

Otherwise, I'd rather check the turn, and maybe the flop. If it checks through you're in a better spot to check and call the river, and a bluff isn't too likely on that turn vs a likely passive villain (prob would think ur slowplaying).

I think a blocking bet on this river is the big suck, no matter what he has. He's almost never calling you down with some random nine. More than likely, he either has an ace or a missed draw. If you block bet, he's folding the missed draw anyway. Just check and call if you think you're getting the right price. I'm inclined to just check-fold though.

This looks like one of those check/call the flop and turn deals until he convinces me that he has the Ace.

To me the question isn't whether worse hands will call the block bet, but whether it's worth spending $6-8 for having no doubts about losing the $18.

i like this thought. I dont think we are behind an ace more than 50-60% the time meaning i would like to showdown at the right price.

The way you've played it, I'd just sac up and call. The board is pretty drawish, and you've induced a bluff against a flush draw and 87. If the board weren't so drawish, or if the flop A wasn't a club, I think you'd have an easier fold.

I also think your turn bet is a little weak, because it sets you up for this situation with flush draws. If he puts you on an A, he has a pretty good expectation of stacking you if a club hits (or a 5 or T if he's holding the less likely 78), as most players will have trouble folding trips. As it is, you've offered him better than 3:1 by betting less than 1/2 the pot, plus he's eying the remaining $11 in your stack. If you are uncomfortable calling a potential bluff on the river but feel like you have to follow through on the turn, bet $7 or $8 on the turn, and a smart FD will have to fold. Normally, if you are solidly ahead, it's OK to make a smaller bet to encourage Villain to draw, but you don't know if you are ahead, so a turn fold by Villain is a decent result for you.
