...just didn't want to give him his money back just yet... Do I give him credit for the flush or call this crap?

Most likely he is full of crap but if he is playing like this no need to risk it just yet. You will get his money in next few hands.

I pulled something like that last night to give myself a great chip lead in a sng. I had a pretty bad beat against the player to my left, and he was a calling station and loose caller preflop. My next hand I pushed all-in with a premium hand hoping he would think I was on tilt. It worked and I doubled up, to above my previous stack before the bad beat. My point is just watch out. Player can use their table image against the table.
old total profit: about $450 or so

goal before school starts (8/20): $1k more

i think its a fairly safe fold . i think i would have lead out with a bet with my open ended straight draw on the turn. that way when he bets into me with his possible flush on the river it probably wont be an all in. and i can call his smaller bluff/bet.

if he's a good player he shouldnt be on tilt from losing one buyin. but calling an all in with a flush draw is by far one of the dumbest moves i've seen.

Bear in mind the guy had already fired in a huge check-raise that created an enormous pot. He made a very aggressive move, got called out by a better hand, and pretty much had to make the all-in call. You can argue that it was dumb to check-raise like that, but he basically has to call the re-raise with two cards to come... pot odds dictate it, at that point.

As for the straight hand - flat call the river. You're probably winning, but there's not much point raising because it opens you up to exactly this problem (and you know he's capable of making a move here without the flush, but just as capable of shoving all in with it). I agree with Element: you should consider betting the draw in position on the turn. You might take the pot down there. If not, it sets up the river perfectly to where he'll bet some lesser amount (probably wouldn't shove all in without a prompt from you) and then you can just call and get a cheaper showdown on your straight. If you win you win more; if you lose you lose less; and you might just buy it on the turn anyway. There's nothing to dislike about that play.

Yeah, wish I woulda just called instead of raising that river, especially a min raise... but the more I think about this hand the more it bothers me. This guy was way too over aggressive, that's why I pushed the first hand back at him. The second hand was probably a safe fold, but damn I wanted to call that so bad, especially with the speed that he was betting, like he wasn't thinking about his play. You're right, I shoulda bet the turn, then I would have had more information on the river. I just had a really strong gut feeling that I had him beat there, but some [sarcasm] dumb ass part of me [/sarcasm] decided to fold. Oh well...

Almost the same kind of situation came up today, where I de-stacked someone by sucking out on his KK when my pair of tens tripped on the turn. He was having a horrible session, and I think I took two other hands from him before this as well. Two hands later (after he re-bought for the third time), I catch a 9 high flush on the turn, and he pushes all-in on the river. I actually typed, "since I feel sorry for you, I'll give some of your money back..." still sort of hoping that I was ahead (gut feeling was opposite this time, I kinda knew he had a higher flush) and called. Gut feeling was right, he had the ace. So i guess what copa said is correct, that tilted image can work to their advantage, and you should probably be extra careful.
