Bear in mind the guy had already fired in a huge check-raise that created an enormous pot. He made a very aggressive move, got called out by a better hand, and pretty much had to make the all-in call. You can argue that it was dumb to check-raise like that, but he basically has to call the re-raise with two cards to come... pot odds dictate it, at that point.
As for the straight hand - flat call the river. You're probably winning, but there's not much point raising because it opens you up to exactly this problem (and you know he's capable of making a move here without the flush, but just as capable of shoving all in with it). I agree with Element: you should consider betting the draw in position on the turn. You might take the pot down there. If not, it sets up the river perfectly to where he'll bet some lesser amount (probably wouldn't shove all in without a prompt from you) and then you can just call and get a cheaper showdown on your straight. If you win you win more; if you lose you lose less; and you might just buy it on the turn anyway. There's nothing to dislike about that play.
