Default Turned AK facing awkward bets

Please don't bother dissing my preflop play, I know it sucked.

Villain seemed like a normal TAG, and I've only played about 4 hands in the 20 or so that I've been here. Stack sizes 100BB effective.

I think this is really close.

You need 28% equity to call. If his range is AA,JJ,55,44,AK then you have 18% equity already. I also dont think he has AA very often and depending how agg he is 44/55 could be unlikely so I think you can bump that up a point or 2 which means he has to be betting something you beat about 9% of the time for a call to be profitable. The slim chance he has AQ plus the chance he thinks you'll fold probably gets you there so I think the call is marginally +EV.

Id probably fold it in the heat of it though.

edit: btw your preflop play sucked

I'm not that good in the math thing, but as AQ and missed draws and who knows what could be in his range because we're in position and he could be trying to bluff us off the hand with representing the A, I call.

Looks a lot like a value bet with 2 pair though...

Ooops I forgot to put AJ in his range. Oh well I still think its close and I still think you can just about call.

Aight, for the results, I was Villain, and I had . After his call on the turn, I basically put him square on AK, with maybe a stubborn KK. I was tempted to go for a valuetown push on the river, but I felt he'd find an excuse to fold.

Check a topic that I've created in the Strategies forum that's very much related to this topic.

    Why are you minraising preflop?..

I was villain in this hand, I made it 4x to go. "Hero", my actual opponent was the retard who minthreebet. Had he been smart enough to make a real threebet I'd have mucked pre.

The minbet pre-flop is the only thing particularly wrong with his play. I'd assume the villain had a decent ace, so we're splitting with AK, beating AQ and AT and losing only to AJ. 88 maybe if he's staggeringly lucky, but the minraise pre-flop indicates it can't be.

Btw I have noticed lots of people min-re-raise AK pre-flop.

That's a good flop to cbet with AK? no?

    If I had the A5, I'm check-raising the turn.

calls cuz he s underrepped his hand
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

i definately bet flop which will make whatever happens on the turn much easier to figure out

if i had AK, i'd like to say i'd think that:
    because i:
    1)re-raise preflop
    2) check the flop and
    3) call the turn bet

the villain probably suspects i have an ace, and knowing this, then bets the river. If he knows my hand, why would he bet the river unless he has a hand that beats it?
i just wouldnt think it was a bluff at all, so folding is the move. Unless he's a complete retard and other factors like that.
    you cant handle the truth!

I would fold the river in "hero"s case here, facing the $18 bet which is pretty clear that I'm beat..
