Had a pretty intense disagreement about the river play here. Hero is a friend of mine who is running like complete ass over past 10k hands or so. I’m sweating him a bit to see if I can help. No reads on villain makes it kinda of shitty but what can you do... :

Preflop could be a fold, but I see no problem with playing these types of hands in position, especially with another cold-caller in front of us. 4-way action with this type of hand is really good.

Preflop could also be a great spot to squeeze, but no reads makes that a little silly so nix that idea.

I'm raising the turn hoping to get it all in.

As played I'm raising the river, hoping to get it all in.

The river is semi-interesting, though. His bet looks like it could be a sucker bet hoping to get raised. Or it could be a blocking type of bet. Calling is definitely safest but I'm usually going broke here.

Easy river raise, the rest of the hand is debateable but overall fine.

Folding preflop is way too nitty imo. Why didn't you raise the turn?

Over msn he said "hmm I have a flush on the turn but I think I'm beat"

I preferred a turn-raise and stack-time on river...

Just looking to see if my advice seems bizarre without a read.

If he's thinking this, he needs to take a break. Not necessarily a long one.

Or at least don't play 87s if you think you are beat on a 3-suited unpaired board!

You have to raise the turn because a river club is death.

Heh you're probably right but....I was hero in this hand and throwing my insecurities over running bad aside, villain's line seems to me to be a medium flush that wasn't all that confident that I didn't have him beat. What does he lead the turn with that's not a flush after I overcalled the flop? I had no reads that he was good or bad, but seeing as he had a full buyin I assume he could be decent.
I smooth called the turn for that exact reason : to not play for stacks with my small flush (maybe this is horrible) and then I pussed out like an idiot (it's all Genitruc's fault for railing me and saying that I had to push) and pushed and he nearly timed out before calling with 9c10c.

I just don't see much EV in raising the river here, but everyone seems to disagree that I've talked to, so bleh.

You make a very good point about playign these cards and then being scared when I make my hand...but I had a read and i should've stuck with it.

I don't think I need to raise the turn, if another club comes and he pushes, it's just a frustrating fold. I can't really see getting it all in on the turn and being good. Maybe once he's committed another bet on the river he'd be priced in to call with a non flush hand, but not on the turn right?
