Unmaximized or safe play?

I didn't bet the flop as I thought it was unlikely he hit anything. On the turn there were a lot of draws out there and I got nervous. You play it any differently?

i'd play it like that.
Coming of the bb he could have anything connected or even a premium hand.

Personally I woulda bet the flop as well, I mean you raised preflop, a good player would generally always follow it up with a bet on the flop when its only heads up. Your check was suspcious, you were just lucky in this case that your opponent bet at you on the turn and went away when you raised.

I think a check-reraise scream power more then a bet on the flop. So I would bet the flop aswell and then perhaps slow it down abit if the turn card aint to bad. If it was on a lower level however, a check reraise is the better move.

I'll usually make a standard "probe/continuation" style bet here of 1/2 the pot, especially against an aggressive plr with a big stack. Against a tight player, checking the flop may induce some turn action or it may not.

I think yeah, you had to reraise on the turn for sure, seeing any 9, 10 or spade would be a scare card on the river, you don't want to give him the chance to improve. But like other stated, I don't see the point in checking the flop here; he called your PFR so he expect you to usually bet on the flop. I would have put a small bet on the flop to perhaps induce weakness and let him commit a possible mistake.
