Interesting. Lets see..
If we bet:
1. A made flush will call or raise.
2. Ah w/ a Jack or Ten will call.
3. Non flush hands except sets or two pair will call.
If we check:
1. A made flush with bet.
2. A smart opponent w/ anything may bet to see if we will fold.
3. A hand with a heart will see a free card.
4. One pair, str8 draw or Ace hands will see a free card and possibly hit the river.
I think it's close but you may be right.
When you look at both the pros and cons of betting/checking it's a clear turn check and call most river bets, especially if the river is a blank. You want to control the pot-size and see a showdown here, not bet into a super scary board with a very vulnerable hand with little chance of seeing a cheap showdown if he has you beat. It's not a given that a made flush doesn't check/call the turn and then lead the river, so you might not get a cheap showdown which is what the turn bet's purpose is. On another note, I'd bet the river if it was checked to me on a blank or if the board paired a non heart and he checked as well.
