    Default What a laydown!

Layton here claims to have folded QQ..

I can't really berate his play here either, it makes sense to put me on AA from the betting patterns.

    Players:
mrberg (EUR 131,65 in seat 1)
Mikka (EUR 22,50 in seat 2)
Dayfly (EUR 184,80 in seat 3)
Leiton (EUR 179,47 in seat 5)
elpadrino (EUR 28,00 in seat 6)

    Dealer: Leiton
    Small Blind: elpadrino (0,50)
    Big Blind: mrberg (1,00)

Dayfly was dealt: Ac - Ah

    Mikka Fold
    Dayfly Raise (3,00)
    Leiton Raise (5,00)
    elpadrino Fold
    mrberg Fold
    Dayfly Raise (10,00)
    Leiton Call (8,00)

    Flop 2s - 3d - 3h

    Dayfly Bet (15,00)
    Leiton Call (15,00)

    Turn 2s - 3d - 3h - Qd

    Dayfly Bet (19,00)
    Leiton Raise (38,00)
    Dayfly Call (19,00)

    River 2s - 3d - 3h - Qd - As

    Dayfly All-In (118,80)
    Leiton Fold
    Dayfly Payback (118,80)

    Dayfly didn't show hand

    Dayfly wins: EUR 131,50
    Rake: EUR 2,00

The most annoying thing about this hand is that my read was that he likely held QQ hence the river push. Should I perhaps have value bet instead?

I mean he must have put me on a high PP on the turn. It wasn't QQ and KK is not pushing that river, so the only hand I could have is AA!

I bet out like 50-70 on the river

yeah when you called that min reraise on turn he knew you had it, so a value bet might have confused him enough to get a call. i am actually surprised he didn't raise harder on the turn, but if he knew you had AA then perhaps he thought he'd take his odds and try to slow play. at any rate i'm pretty sure he'd have called anything from 20-50, maybe a little more.

it was a good laydown, hopefully next time you're in that situation you'll remember this hand.
In answer to your question... it depends...

I woulda pushed in your place too. It's hard to lay down a set if you're good and even harder if you're bad. I probably woulda paid you off anyways.

Those turn min raises have been pretty consistent monsters or at least strong hands. Something to keep in the back of the mind...

A similar hand came up yesterday when I flopped a set of aces over a set of queens over a set of sixes. I played it aggressively and destacked both of them for a monster €350 pot. Too bad the client only saves the last 50 handhistories or I would have posted it.
