    Default What plays like this?

This guy just sat down last orbit. He got the majority of his stack when he was in the BB and squeezed me and my two callers in his first hand at the table. Haven't really seen him in any other hands. He's on a few other tables. And that's all I know about him.

    Texas Hold'em $1-$1 NL (Real Money), #226,917,605
Table Freetown, 22 Apr 2007 11:45 AM ET

Seat 2: Andrieux ($170.60 in chips)
    Seat 4: fil1978 ($96.75 in chips)
Seat 5: vsempuzduc ($116 in chips)
Seat 8: LedererFace ($188.65 in chips)
    Seat 9: Galapogos [ 9, 9 ] ($129.65 in chips)

    Antes/Blinds
fil1978 posts blind ($0.50), vsempuzduc posts blind ($1).

    Pre-Flop
LedererFace folds, Galapogos bets $4, Andrieux folds, fil1978 calls $3.50, vsempuzduc calls $3.

    Flop [board cards Q,4,6 ]
fil1978 checks, vsempuzduc checks, Galapogos checks.

    Turn [board cards Q,4,6,4 ]
fil1978 checks, vsempuzduc checks, Galapogos bets $8, fil1978 folds, vsempuzduc bets $19, Galapogos folds.

Should I call and see the river? I want to just because I can't put him on anything. Maybe I look like I'm bluffing to him? These pot building re-raises scare me though, especially since I am very unlikely to improve.

Why did you not bet flop?

If you do and don't take it down there, you can at least check behind turn or river for pot control........

Should have mentioned this. Fil1978 was a bit of a tool. He would call any flop bet despite his holdings, and if I checked on the turn he would percieve that as weakness and push on the river. At least that was his standard play. With him in the hand I would much rather bet the turn so if he did call I could check behind on the river if he checked to me. No he would not perceive the flop check as weakness.

    That makes sense then.

I think I can fold this turn. A lot of cards you don't want to see on river. Turn raises get more credit than flop raises to me....

I still bet the flop anyways... If he's really doing that river push every time you check the turn, you could call if the river is a blank.
