Looks like a bad ace to me. I think he checked the flop to see if anyone would bet (a better ace will probably bet). Then after everyone checks, he probably thinks Ax is good. I could see a bluff here too, but I think it's not worth the call without a good read.

Yeah just fold that, its a small pot and you've got a marginal hand.
