My biggest fear was a set
I checked his stats after his first raise and he's played 20/26 hands, post flop Agg factor is about 4

i should have just put him allin instead of reraising

heres another hand where I feared a set but played the hand hard anyways and just put him allin

Yea, I've made a lot of money the last couple days after getting back on track. I have changed a few things up, and I may be a little more predictable, but the party 100NL doesn't know this.

By the way, Smack, I'm where you have been today. After a good month of always running hot, always making the right reads and always making money, I have dumped hundreds of dollars today. A few times it was on bad reads or bad play, but at least 80% of it was just horrible, shitty luck. KK vs. AA twice... AA vs. a set of threes... overpairs that can't shake flush draws, which inevitably hit... two full houses vs. higher full houses... two pair vs. a set twice... nut flush vs. a boat... it's been a nightmare session all day long. Every time I think I'm finally turning it around, my opponent flips over the surprise nuts and uses it to punch me right in mine. The whole day has made me want to puke, and I'm now finally doing the right thing and stepping away from the computer.

I'm also officially moving back down to $50 NL for a while. I don't think I was outplayed at the $100 level - in fact I made money my first two days at it, though not much. But this day has been a nasty hit on my bankroll and I can't afford to keep crapping away $100 a pop while my luck is so sour. If I can get back to where I was on the $50 tables, I'll move back up again.

Shit man, that sucks quite a bit of ass. Downswings are shitty things indeed - especially at new, higher stakes. I seriously doubt you were outplayed, most 100NL players suck more than the 50NL players.

Here's a couple of things I learned the hard way about 100NL that I wish I could have figured out sooner:

    1. Correct reads do not always = profit. If you know someone has a single, lonely ace-king, you still can't push em off
    2. Any two overcards will call you to the river, and then bluff if you check
    3. Underpairs less than 77 will call your flop bet no matter what, and bluff big if you check.
    4. 88-JJ will call you down on an AAKQQ board to the freakin river so don't even try it (ok maybe not that extreme, but pretty close). They will also call your $15 river bet if you checked on the turn.
    5. You can not push anybody off of anything
    6. You will have no idea your AQ is up against AK because they will call all the way down

I'm really glad you pointed out chip_remover, because I observed and logged about 500 hands of his today and saw how he is crushing the game. He basically plays it like a limit game how you described it - slow, unexciting, raise with good cards, check if they miss, make the correct EV plays, and let them pay you off if they want. His preflop raises are pretty loose however, and I think people see that more than anything and tend to pay him off. I'm sure I am missing a few things, but other than that, it looks pretty ABC.

Anyways, your luck will turn, the short break will be good for you, and when you come back and start kicking some 50NL ass, you'll be ready for 100NL in no time. Instead of 100NL seeming huge, 50NL will seem like micros and you will crush em both.

Thanks for the info. That definitely gibes with my short experience at those tables, and I'm going to keep it all in mind when I get back there.
