Default yet another heads-up hand history ($24 double shootout)

There were 4 players at my starting table but two of them got knocked out almost immediately so I got to play heads-up for a long time. Most of it might be boring but I made two or three plays that aren't standard.

The Tournament Trimmer (v1.1.2w) was developed by JeffreyGB at http://www.FlopTurnRiver.com.

    ---Tournament Summary---

I like your style a lot and play pretty much the same, especially when it comes to abusing the button .

    Some random thoughts:

    * Why are you not cbetting the flop by default, but wait for the the turn? Passing the Hands 1 and 13 is fine but why not in Hands 2 and 16 (Hand 28 is close). Oh and I 2nd-barrel often when I have reason to think it's good, usually combined with draw.

    * Somehow I get the feeling that when the blinds are big your pf-raises are too big, for example Hands 18 and 21. Don't get me wrong, I do the same [censored] myself, it's just that recently after reviewing HHs I started to question my own huge raises in spots like this. Also I noticed that most winning regulars on higher stakes (2p2) adjust, so it's like: '250 will do the same job as 300'. Food for thought ...

    * All in clashes: I think you overvalue Ax (x<9) type of hands. It's probably that I'm just tighter than you, but for me A9+ is premium, A8 is ... ummm fine, A7 is tricky - have to draw the line somewhere and start thinking about his range, how my hand stands against it, by how much, etc. In fact, it seems that you've been a little lucky that your weak opponent was running a little cold so you didn't get punished w/ A7 - nice looking hand that is either a small favorite or big dog against his AI range.

    * I'm not a big fan of open betting medium/low pairs on the flop OOP.

    * Hands 26 and 30 - not unreasonable, but you are pushing your luck.

    Overall impression: I LIKE

Hand 1: I don't like the river bet. You're already winning a lot of the time at a showdown, and I don't think he folds many hands at all that you aren't already beating, which is the only reason to bet. I more prefer a check-call or check-fold, depending on opponent.

Hand 2: Interesting play. Dangerous without a solid read on his play, but I guess it's ok.

Hand 30: I don't understand this play. Why risk doubling him with ten high when you only win a smallish pot when he folds?

Hand 2 is close. He'd call that flop with a lot of hands but betting probably still would have been better. I see no reason to bet the flop in Hand 16. Better hands aren't folding and worse hands aren't calling, unless you think he'd make a loose peel with overcards. Waiting for the turn seems better to me, and if he bets the turn I'm calling.

I guess I just disagree that he'd fold for 200 more just as often as he'd fold for 300 more. Maybe I should experiment with smaller raises out of position and see how often they get called.

All in clashes: I think you overvalue Ax (x<9) type of hands. It's probably that I'm just tighter than you...
The thing is, when you're raising as often as I am on the button, you can't be shy about calling all-ins with them. Think about it, if you raise top 50% and only call with top 10% then anyone with a brain would beat you easily. You'd be surprised how often my raises tilt people and they go all-in with 53o. Because of that, I don't worry too much about hand ranges against this type of opponent. If I have an ace and less than 20 BB I don't fold pre-flop. Well maybe if it's A4o or worse, but otherwise no.

I agree with your analysis. As soon as the hand was over I felt that I had misplayed the hand.

You must be talking about a different hand. Which one do you mean?

Hand 30: I don't understand this play. Why risk doubling him with ten high when you only win a smallish pot when he folds?
Because sometimes I'll win the pot when he calls? This is a good hand to re-steal with, I won't be dominated very often. It seems standard to sometimes make plays like this with 15 BB stacks against someone who has shown that they're capable of raising and folding to an all-in.

I meant to type "Hand 5" instead of "Hand 2."

About Hand 30, yes, obviously you can win the pot if he calls. But the whole point is that you aren't a favorite when he calls, and you are risking an amount that is grossly disproportionate to what you win when he folds.

First of all: I see your villain as weak, fishy, desperately trying to hit a hand.
My all commemnts are based on that.

Bet to protect? You likely have the better hand.
And yes sometimes (usually after you bulling them alot) they call w/ overs or even single over hoping to catch or bluff on turn, so I 2nd-barrel here often and they fold like crazy (paired flops are always fun)

Waiting for the turn seems better to me, and if he bets the turn I'm calling.
And likely pay the value bet if they pair the turn card. That's why I prefer good ole cbet.

I'm not surprised at all - I play like you and you're right about tilting and inducing ridiculous shoves ... only this weak-waiting-and-hoping-player will not shove 53 too often and it's likely that once he does, you are in bad shape. A7 is soo easy to dominate.

Because sometimes I'll win the pot when he calls? This is a good hand to re-steal with, I won't be dominated very often.
Good point and ^^^^ w/ A7 you will be dominated often.

Oh, just in case it's not obvious, I'm talking about calling AI w/ A7, not open-shoving (which is g00t).
