    Default Your move?

Gurr was on major TILT and I won some big pots from him on another table. He changed table and I follow him...

He gets lucky a few times on this table and seems to be calming down.

How would you play the river? Check, bet or push? I have about €112 behind me and he has me covered. Pot is €178.

Keep in mind, this guy could be playing any two cards here.

Nice river card. Hmmm... 3rd nut and 110ish behind.

Let's start with the assumption he's pretty good/thinking when not on tilt.

He's running good and maybe still playing a game of mental catch-up for the session. Does he know what a blocking bet is?

Option 1: Bet $32 and hope he pushes. Figure TT/7x/ all call.
Option 2: Check and hope to draw a push. The pot is worth winning and a push is just the right amount to make it very difficult to call without Qx/77
Option 3: Push. Think he goes for a heroic call with a worse hand? No way he folds a split.

I'm torn between betting $32 and checking...

Hmmm. If you check, villian bets/pushes the river with queens full, quads, or nothing at all, which I think is a real possibility (KJ or 9T) based on his turn play. TT and a flush might call a river bet, but for some reason I doubt he has TT. So I think he either has a flush or a busted straight draw, so I'm going to have to go with check. If he's still tilting, he very well might bet the river with a flush.

Aside, I really don't like your turn CR. It practically broadcasts to villian that you have a Q (no way AA or KK min-CRs the turn here), and therefore villian has implied odds to call the CR with any sort of draw IMO. That being said, if you are going to CR the turn, you have to CR more. Take his implied odds away. Make it $90-100 total. Getting back to what I was saying, I like betting $30-35 on the turn and then checking the river. A LOT more hands will bet here when checked to because your line shows so much fear in the river card and reeks of AA or KK that wants a cheap showdown. As a result you can get a lot more value.

If you could provide some more specific details on villian, like exact hands he showed down and how he plays his draws, then I think we can make a more informed decision on the river. Very interesting hand though.

I really wasn't putting him on a draw, in fact I was putting him on air(hoping he had a weaker queen).

He made plays like calling flop and turn bets with unpaired 83offsuit and then bluffing the river... He was playing something like 80% of his hands and raising 50%.

I check raised the turn because I knew he would bluff at the pot. Him calling the min-check raise suprised me, I suspected him to push or fold. I then made a hasty and poor river decision, I pushed and he folded. The guy was such a bluffoholic that he probably would have bluffed at the pot again had I checked.

Ahh. Given this info I think this is an easy river check. Induce that bluff baby!
Note: don't forget to pause a few seconds before you check

When he called on turn you have to think that he has at least something, because he knows you he might think that you think he is full of bs and are making a play on him. I would check the river hoping that he was on a draw. Another option is to make a small blocking bet hoping he would come over the top like fnord suggested. I would love to use this line more but my opponents dont seem to recognize the bet that often

If your history together is that you have been bullying him I like the AI line here, he might call with a T or even with a 7..
