Interesting A-A hand.

    Default Interesting A-A hand.

I admit that my postflop play here hardly makes any sense, but I think this is an interesting hand because we actually both had A-A (he'd asked me to show my hand if he folded, and after I did he told me he had the same hand), and I managed to avoid a split by getting him to fold.

The reason I made this play was because preflop I had put him on K-K and had intended to move all-in on any flop, and didn't reevaluate my plan much when the flop came K, K, x (aside from determining that he probably had Q-Q instead). I figured I had the best hand and just decided to take it down, even though this play probably isn't the best.

    Why stop raising preflop?

So it wasn't completely obvious I had A-A. I didn't want to give him a chance to get away from two kings. If I stop raising preflop, then put the rest of my stack in on a flop of all undercards, I put him to a decision where he has to think his hand is good.

    Makes sense.

    himself fucker.
Don't be afraid to just shove it all in there when you've got the best of it.

You push, he calls with kings.
You call, see a flop and 3 things happens.

An ace flops and the story is over.
A king flops and you make the heroic fold (And incorrect as we would later find out)
Rags flop *and* "he calls with kings." Sound familiar?

I'm not, but I'd also like to get called when my opponent is crushed. That's why I was planning to move all-in on the flop. He potentially may fold preflop to another raise, but if I just call, he'll have difficulty putting me on A-A, and I'm likelier to win his stack.

Again, he may be able to get away from his hand preflop. Postflop, it would have been nearly impossible if undercards had flopped (which was the most likely flop anyways).

Some can, but not many. It comes down to how you felt about him. If you thought he'd fold, then it's right. But if you were afraid he'd fold, you shoulda pushed.
