    Default This hand confused me

I got very confused as to what to do on the turn here, so I just called. Advice on all streets needed.

    Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (10 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    SB ($20.45)
    Hero ($24.20)

    MP2 ($23.90)
    MP3 ($34.11)
    CO ($8.33)
    Button ($19.77)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q, J. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
UTG calls $0.25, 4 folds, MP3 calls $0.25, 2 folds, SB (poster) completes, Hero checks.

    Flop: ($1) 9, T, J (4 players)
SB bets $0.25, Hero raises to $1, UTG calls $1, MP3 folds, SB raises to $3, Hero calls $2, UTG folds.

    Turn: ($8) 8 (2 players)
SB bets $4, Hero calls $4.

Your flop play is fine. You flopped top pair/good kicker and the OESD, and raised a weak bet - so far so good. You were re-raised, uh oh, but you clearly have to call with probably a healthy number of outs.

The turn card is perfect. You have second nuts, and only QK would be ahead of you (and would have been ahead of you already, so from this point on you're donating if he holds this hand). His bet is modest; send out a min-raise to $8 and hope for a call. He knows what you probably have, you are just hoping he'll pay you off because the price is right.

His check on the river says it all. If you'd raised on the turn, you could then bet $8 on the river, and maybe even get called.

This is a hand where there's a potential for somewhat more profit. Not much more; if he's at all bright he knows you have the queen. And it doesn't look like he does. But you can make controlled raises and possibly get more money in there.

That was my fear here, I felt that if I minraised the turn he would make the easy read and muck right there, but I wanted to try to squeeze some more chips out of him by seeing a river.

Anyway, he had K Q and won the pot. I can only assume that he called the river because he was scared of the flush, if you reread the hand history and imagine I had A 2, it looks like it's the right play for that hand.

That's rough. He played it pretty well except I think he should have bet more on the turn.

Hmmm, It does look suspiciously like a flush draw. But you played it well.
