Heads up question

    Default Heads up question

On the bubble, 10xBB is the generally accepted point at which you go into push/fold mode. When you get to heads up, at how many BB do you start push/folding? I was decent heads up on Stars, but I suck bad at Party...

i start pushing every small blind when i have 10bb (or my opponent has less than 10bb). usually people fold too much, and if they call, your 74o isn't that much of a dog.

Hello, this is my first post on the board.

I've just started playing heads up on Party Poker and Ultimate Bet to build my initial bankroll. I try to make all my heads up games get over before the blinds make Luck the primary decision of who wins the game. I usually do this by gambling when I think I am ahead and trying to get my opponent trapped into pots that he would normally not want to play. This is a skill I am still working on. Yes there is a rule in poker to not give any opponent pot odds to call a bet. Yet, when you find yourself heads up with a player who is even skill, three things are bound to happen.
    1. A nasty suckout, or huge mistake by another player
    2. Players are even in chips and blinds get high where it becomes total pushfest

So enough blabbing and on to the question you originally asked. If I unfortunately find myself heads up with big blinds which is bound to happen im willing to push any cards practically depending on the read in which range of cards he would call with. A book that really helped me was Harrington on Hold'em Volume 2, it focused on the concept of M and how to play when you are in each zone. Dont know if my rambling helped, but I wish you luck in all the heads up games you play.

Heads up all depends on the opponent. I generally opt for balls-to the-wall aggression. generally if the blinds are to the point that a standard raise is going to commit more than a quarter of my stack, I just push

when either of u are less than 10xBB just start pushing any 2 cards from the SB.

once he catches on to wat u are doing, readjust your pushing range just a smidgen.

The thing that brought this question up is that, surprisingly, so far on Party I'm getting to heads up with lower blinds than at Stars. I tend to just bleed chips until I have 10BB and can push.

    heres a question
would u rather have higher equity but potentiall ymake mistakes while playing?
or lower equity but make no mistakes?

    Either way
there arent that many mistakes u can make when ur at 13xBB or even 14xBB when ur HU. Your opponents just fold wayyy to much for their own good.

I don't think pushing is necessary w/10bb. Many players will fold heads up to a 3bb raise (they often have no better than Q high and are out of position) and push over only based on their own holdings. Find out if your opp. folds too much and go from there (if they do then there is no need to risk your whole stack to take the blinds). Getting the right read on your competition is more important than following a strict set of guidelines. That said, if it takes ai to get them out, then push any 2. If they are pushing every time you limp in, then limp the first 2 face cards or A/K high you get and call their push.
