Default My (success) story (just for you edud)

Ok, first off, my age < 18, so if you're mortally offended by underage gambling, there's the door.

My story starts off playing play money at poker.com, which was fun for a while, but watching 10 all ins in a table can get kind of boring after a while. So I played in a freeroll, with the chip lead halfway through. I got tired at about this point, so I went to bed. Woke up the next morning with $0.80.

Yes! Money!!!! So I head off to the $0.01-$0.02 limit tables with my huge BR, saw that I was at a table full of donks, not much above play money, and quickly brought that up to around $3.

I decided that this wasn't moving fast enough, so I move no 25nl, because, well, just because (glub glub). So I pick up 99 on my first hand. All in. I get about 3 callers, catch a 9 on the flop, and triple up. Very next hand, JJ. All in (of course). Get a caller with something crap. Double up and leave.

So I start buying into 25nl with $10. I find this rediculously easy, and build it up to about $100. At poker.com, if you get enough raked hands, you can qualify for a $500 freeroll, which i win for $150. BR = $270.

So after playing for a while at 25nl, not really knowing what I'm doing, going nowhere with my roll, getting bored, I try 100nl. I mean, what's the harm? I'm better than all of these players.... So I run good for a week, build up to around $650. Then I hit a downswing.

Back down to $200 So searching google for a poker forum, I stumble across FTR. I learn about BR management, how to beat low limits etc. So I build up my BR to about $400. I do a review for FTR, get $50 and get the hell out of poker.com, just because they don't have enough players to be really profitable there.

So I cash out, and pm boon about casino whoring. He decides to take my $200 and make $600 with it. While this is happening, I'm tearing up (read: slightly beating) 25nl at Party and 6turbo sngs at Stars.

My BR is now $1046.53 (after paying back boon 25%).

    And that's about it. tynhgg

SamEnole started with a freeroll and now has won hundreds of thousands. But even for just turning play money into a real bankroll gives me a lot of respect for you Midas, nice job.

lol cheers guys. somehow this got out at school today, and I was surrounded by fools asking "so how much do you bet each time?" :/

My next goal is to get enough money so I can bang down a bunch of cash in front of my parents and tell them that I'm good at poker (they think I only play play money)

midas, you are asking for trouble with that. Why the fuck do you want to show your parents that kind of disrespect? I can't imagine any parents encouraging their kids to gamble illegally, so what are you proving? That you can defy them? That you get REWARDED for defying them?

If you still think this is a good idea, make sure you wait till you are a long-term, consistent, money-winning player. Basically, look at Ilikeaces86's career trajectory and when you're on a level with that, you can tell them.

Yes, do not let them know you do this under any circumstances, just look at what happened to Staple, you don't want that crap. As for school, deny it to all ends...you're just a play money player to them and you need to keep it that way for your own sake.

I'm of age to play poker online and my mother would still kick my ass for doing what you want to do.

    I dont agree

Your in the perfect posistion to be able to let them know.

Tell them what a "Freeroll" is and tell them you won .80 in one, and all you have ever used is that .80 ...

The site doesnt allow you to withdraw that little, so you had nothing else to do with it other than play with it...

    Leave it at that.

Point that if your not spending any money on it...

The last thing you want to do is for your parents to find out your playing with real money when they think your on play money from a teacher or some other student being a jerk...

    The word is out.

    Parents are not stupid.

They will need to find otu sooner or later, and it's far better if it's from your mouth.

ps: I hope they play the lottery, if they do then you can point out that it's like someone gave you a lottery ticket...

    Q. Is poker Gambling?
    A. Do you use correct bankroll management?
