Ok, so I get a check after a smooth call; probably should have set off more alarm bells. My $20 bet was into a $26 pot, so I thought this would be strong enough to take the pot right there if he really didn't like his hand. When he check/raised I knew I was probably fucked but for $14 is this an easy fold?

it should be, if you were a disciplined player.

not to say i wouldn't make the call myself, of course. there must've been hundreds of times when i told myself, "i know i'm beaten, but i have to call here to just make sure"-- it's having the psychological toughness to trust your instincts & make a laydown that'll save you chips and/or money that differentiates the good from the merely competent...

right now, i'd have to say i'm neither of the above
i bet 2 dolla on my flush draw

I would have made it $7 to go pre flop if i was going to reraise. The minraise doesn't put your opps to the question.

When fishy minraises a solid turn bet, they can almost always beat TPTK. It feels like you are committed by the $20 turn bet, but you opp wont be expecting you to fold here. It's tough though as you are getting huge odds on your call.

I might have been swayed by the results, but maybe I would check the turn behind. Anyone hate this? Weak/tight? I just don't know what I'm beating on this board...

Easy to say all this though, cos I know he had the straight

Good point, didn't even realise I'd minraised when I first reread my HH...

That's a horrible board for Ace King.

this was my first thought, before i looked at the results. you gotta gotta check behind on the turn, you really don't want to be playing for stacks here. if you check behind he probably makes a 10ish river value bet you can call, or he pushes and you easily fold.
i betcha that i got something you ain't got, that's called courage, it don't come from no liquor bottle, it ain't scotch

I agree. Yes it is weak/tight and you are giving a free card, but I don't want to put myself in a (pot-committed) position to lose my whole stack with TPTK. If you check behind, he may assume you are weak and comes out firing or he has it. Now your real decision is does he have it or is he betting my weakness? But you have the advantage of determining whether or not you should call off more of your money by his river bet amount?

Greedo017 beat me to it, but it's great advice.
Playing live . . . thanks alot Bin Laden.
