Sometimes it takes others to really show how far one has come. It's hard to believe sometimes that I started playing this game only fifteen months ago. And, for all intents and purposes, I've only *really* been playing for eight months (Ilikeaces86 staked me on March 10th). It's a pretty cool thing to have made as much progress as I have...

In future blogs I now have a few things to discuss. I already know I want to talk about being a "BR Baby," how I really should be playing at a higher money level than I actually am. Within that post, or one shortly after, I will discuss my personal goals for poker and the future.

You know, when I decided to start this blog I did so for two reasons. First, it was to help others. I mentioned that in my first blog post, about how I wanted to help "Pay it Forward" to others. Lots of people have helped me along the way and I feel like it's my turn to return the favor. I hope I can do that. The other reason I decided to start this blog was so that I could improve myself, my game, my thought process, my mindset, etc. Through discussions like these I feel this is more than possible.

I have taken some shots at higher levels but even though my BR has met the standards, my game hasnt. I have been thinking of yearly, monthly, or weekly goals for next year. This being my first year I think my 2ok looks rather reasonable but what about next year?? Should I aim for 40k? 100k?. I can only play a couple of hours per day and that limites my winnings quite a lot. I, too, used to play on bodog with mr. Doggz but I decided that I will play ring, and most of my MTT's on euro sites because the winnings from EU area are tax free and if I keep on winning I want no issues with the local IRS. hmm, enough of rambling. I guess the point was setting a goal based on previous success. Any good examples you guys have?

it is not a matter whether it is located in the us or not. But it is not located in EU either. That is all that matters. I live in Finland. I was talking about "local IRS", meaning our tax authorities. If I win wsop I would have to pay my taxes. That is one reason why some finnish pros arent playing there. That is why I am withdrawing my winnings from every non-EU sites except Stars, where I will play gauntlet and some other FTR related games.

Because all the "gambling/lottery" winnings, poker still included , are tax free for EU citizens if the winnings are from EU located companies. One of the few things that arent taxed heavily here. If you earn 100k a year in Finland for your job I guess you would pay something like 50% taxes.If you win 100k from poker, you pay like.. 0%!!

playing poker is harder than camping. But it can be more profitable both money wise and educational wise. I started hating ring when I was camping. Playing a bit laggier forces you to play better poker and enables you to play higher stakes, that is what I think at least.

I just bought a car with my poker winnings taken out via Webdollar, funny coinsidence I think this might be country dependant but I think that in Finland you dont have to provide information about your income to the tax authorities if the income is tax free. BUT we do not have to make any income statements to the tax authorities because all the employers and other organizations paying our salaries or other forms of income transfers notify the tax authorities who then make the income statement for us. Cool system, eh? No idea how this works in Greek. I would suggest you to contact the local authorities, just go into a tax office and ask someone how the thing works. This has been widely debated in the finnish poker forums during the year and as far as I remember they told us not to provide the information to the authorities, as long as it comes from the EU located sites.

I'd disagree. I can definately win more playing 8-12 tables of full ring than I could playing 4 tables of 6 max. You'd be supprised at some of the good reads and interesting plays that are possible multitabling.

Yes but you have to tell them WHERE you got the money and WHY is it tax free, thats what I mean.

If I am declaring NO income I cant just go out and buy a 30k euro car. I have first to declare that I have the money to buy that car and tell them how I got it so they can tax it for the category it falls into.

All "proof" that I have is that Webdollar is puting money into my bank account. Can I ask them for a receipt or sth so I can use that with the IRS?

4ptbb/100 on party and 8ptbb/100 on bodog, about 60hands per hour per table. You can do your calcs :P

I look at my stats and see how many hands I've played. I kept track over 20,000 hands. Yes i did it by hand.
