    Default Need help/advice

I need some help/advice. This is driving me crazy. Here is a pretty typical session for me. Please give me some advice. There are about 90 hands I condensed them down. Thanks in advance. I put my hole cards just to show the trash I get, and why (though not a good reason) I made some bad plays. Kinda frustrated. Also mb there were some hands I should have but didn't play. Also are these the typical hands most ppl get but they can some how make money with them? I have tried to condense this down hopefully it is still understandable.

My hole cards are in red. Hands I won in Green. Hands I lost in Blue. FPF= Fold Pre Flop

I started with 40$ was up to 64$ before the 1st hand here.

wow, trying to read that made my head hurt. Could you at least put a space between each hand?

Also I don't think there's enough information (position, action, stack size etc.), pokers more then your cards and the board.

Single out some problem hands and post a full HH.
  3. #3
Sorry about it being hard to read. Thanks though. I have posted a few hands. I was wanting to show a whole session, cause my problem I think is more than a few hands and I didnt want to have a huge post with a bunch of hands listed. I just lost 40$ in a few hands here they are minus the Junk folded Pre Flop

Everything except the KK is a standard preflop fold.

On the KK hand I might bet a smaller amount on the flop to entice a few callers with inferior hands.
  5. #5
A lot of hands to look through. Maybe just post 2 or 3 with commentary to what was going through your mind, and don't post the results. I'll just talk about the one you went broke on.

    1) Why raise 3x BB with A8o? Were you protecting your blind? Were you trying to start a bluff? Were you on tilt? You don't have good position.
    2) You hit your ace, but do you think that 8 kicker will hold up? You bet and he calls. Does he have a set? a pair of aces? A straight draw of some sort (I would have ruled this out since thats a lot to call with only 4 outs, but the results are posted)
    3) Why bet $10 on the turn scare card. If you thought you were ahead on the flop, then you have to think that you might be behind here.
    4) He put you all in and you probably called because you were pot committed, but this isn't a tournament, you have to think you are behind here and fold.

So you usually fold A8s? I just did to a 5$ preflop raise and missed a 60$ pot with the flush. I shouldnt feel bad about that?

absolutely not. it's a trash hand with only one real possibility, flush. unless you are on the button with more than half the table limping. even then i don't like it.

playing suited cards just because they're suited is a massive leak. focus more on the strength of cards, that's where the money is.

Axs is a limping hand. Folding is a very good option too.

I am going crazy. After folding preflop 20 hands of junk, and seeing 3 of them would have won nice pots. (i dont have transcript for this one) I get JJ on the button checks to me I raise 4$ (4xBB) get 1 caller. Flop comes TdJd8c. Opponent checks I raise 15$. Opponent re raises 30$ puts me all in. Turn and River are Ac 9s. He had QdKd. I lose to the str8. He reraised me on a draw (yes he had lot of outs) and won. What should I have done differently?

10 Hands later this. What should I have done here

Looking at the first hand (Apart from it being a fold from this position) I think you need to try and put your opponants on a hand. He min raised the flop, this means he likes his hand and does not mind a lot of callers (foolish with any hand but anyway), on the turn you have top two pair, what hand would raise pre-flop and be beating you right now? Think about it because this is vital.

The only hands you are behind to are a set or KQ, unlikely as you have both a J and a 10 and few people min raise KQ preflop. His most likely holding is AA/KK/QQ or an AK trying to bluff it out. Raise the turn and be prepaired to get all you chips in if he pushes, pay off KQ or a low set, unlikely given the action so far but you still have outs to fill up.

Putting opponents on a hand or a range of hands takes time to learn and no-one is right all the time but the more you try, the better you will get.

The last hand, check fold post flop.

If you really want to represent the A bet more. Think about the hand you are trying to represent. Would a strong A only bet 1/3 of the pot with two flush cards out?

I think you should look carefully at starting hand charts and play tight ABC poker for a while. Stop playing the "would have" game and concentrate on the theory, not the results. Stay focused and ride out those 40-hand cold card streaks. I know after a run of crap cards that ATo looks like a dynamite hand, but it's not that great and you need to excercise caution. Riding cold streaks is tough, but if you have to fold 40 hands in a row, the most it could cost you is 6BB. That's nothing. You'll make that back in one hand.

Stop limping with non-suited connectors in early position. In fact, fold them. Your post-flop play isn't strong enough to win pots out of position when you don't hit hard (ie the straight or two pair).

Don't call even a min raise with KTo, especially when you're out of position (ie in the blinds). The only situation I can recommend is if you've got position on a very loose PFR'r - like someone who's raising around 25% of hands.

Ditch Axs. It's not profitable most of the time. You'll hit a flush on the flop around 1% and a flush draw something like 5% of the time IIRC. When you do hit that flush, people are usually wary of it and you'll only get payed off from a smaller flush or a donk with a hand they can't get away from.
