Too passive?

    Default Too passive?

A couple HHs from a table I didn't have any strong reads at. Lots of players limping, raises from decent hands, but no surefire locks on play-style.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (9 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

    UTG ($2.02)
    UTG+1 ($1.26)
    MP1 ($5.38)
    MP2 ($1.42)
    MP3 ($2.35)
    CO ($6.61)
    Hero ($4.95)
    SB ($4.03)
    BB ($4.31)

Preflop: Hero is Button with J, A.
    2 folds, MP1 calls $0.02, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.06, SB calls $0.05, 1 fold, MP1 calls $0.04.

    Flop: ($0.20) 3, J, 6 (3 players)
SB bets $0.12, MP1 folds, Hero raises to $0.24, SB calls $0.12.
(Re-raise more here? I wanted him to stay in with something like KJ.)

    Turn: ($0.68) A (2 players)
SB bets $0.12, Hero raises to $0.24, SB calls $0.12.
(Once again, re-raise more? I doubt he's on any type of new draw, and at this point I'm starting to suspect a possible set or a low two-pair [which I now have beat]. I want him in the hand, but I also want to get out as many chips as possible)

    River: ($1.16) K (2 players)
SB bets $0.12, Hero raises to $1, SB calls $0.88.
(Without a solid read, could I have bet more here and still gotten the call?)

    Final Pot: $3.16

Without a solid read, I couldn't gauge quite accurately what he had, but with how he played I thought it was most likely a badly played KJ.

On this next one, what would have been your move on the flop? The next hand he raised to $.10 with AJo, so perhaps my read of AK was correct here?

    SB ($1.97)
    BB ($1.21)
    UTG ($4.13)
    UTG+1 ($1.69)
    MP1 ($4.07)
    Hero ($6.39)
    CO ($3.05)
    Button ($4.25)

    Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q, Q.
    2 folds, MP1 raises to $0.12, Hero calls $0.12, 1 fold, Button calls $0.12, 2 folds.

    Flop: ($0.39) 6, K, J (3 players)
MP1 bets $0.08, Hero folds, Button folds.

    Final Pot: $0.47

Not sure if I should have been so passive here or not. After looking at it again Ax of spades was a possibility, but the raise seemed too large for that. Perhaps AKs/AJs/ATs.

I'm mostly a tournament player, but now and then I hop over to ring to try and practice a variety of situations. Any input is appreciated.

First hand you gotta raise more preflop. At the penny tables 3xbb is equivalent to limping. Make it $0.10 at least. On the flop raise it up some more. Make it $0.40-0.50. No need to worry about villian getting scared away with KJ. They will play for stacks w/TP. On the turn bet $0.80-$0.90 and look to get it all in on the river. The way I try to analyze it is once the turn hits your goal is to get the other guy's stack, and what would be the most effective way of doing so? If you can get 1/2 his stack in by the river you usually can stack him on the river.
2nd hand is a tough spot. I would rerasise preflop especially since you have position and you want to isolate too. Make it $0.40 to go. Then when the king hits, YOU can rep it.

Thanks, I don't play ring much so I'm not too familiar with optimal plays. The guy did call off a huge portion of his stack by the river, so raising more earlier probably would have been a good move.
