Default Should I have called here?

Villain is typical .10/.20 Dreamland Poker Player - Loose, Calling Station, Loves to chase, will play Ax, Kx in any position etc...

Perhaps my mistake was to limp in w/ J8s in the first place. Though I have been playing at this site for 3 days now (easily 1,000+ hands) and I hardly ever get out-kicked. Players will call down w/ Mid or even Low Pair, or High Pair, weak kicker, so playing hands such as J9, QT, K9 etc have been profitable at this site. Let me know what you guys think of this hand, and I'll give my opinion too.

    nope.

I don't care what anyone says, If someone re-raises all in with 4 hearts on the board and I have none, I'm folding.

If I have Ad Kd on: Qh Jh 2c Th 6h and my bet gets raised AI (or even gets min raised), I'm folding.

    Raise preflop!
    Why not?
I'll take the view you had a read of some sort but this play is -ev i expect

BankItPayette: That's how I feel too, but at the same time I thought maybe this guy was on a draw the whole time (str8, or even held mid/low pair hoping to get trips) and so when it didn't work out on the river, he raised AI to get me to fold. Looking back, I think being cautious was a good move though.

Miffed: What is your reasoning behind raising preflop? Is limping w/ J8s -ev or calling the river AI on that kind of board -ev?

raise preflop. Mix it up why not? It isnt a standard play, but its the sort of thing i raise and hope to flop something nice.
I cant se how playing the hand in this fashion with that kicker is +ev unless you catch as you do. Think of the preflop hands that beat you. JT QJ KJ.
Over a long period of time this play is going to lose money not make it.
You're making a bad play both positionally and hand wise. Its ugly to say the least. Raising the pot preflop its fair enough, opp may call you down with a PP and think you missed the flop. But J8s as a tp hand from ep in an unraised pot cant be good often once you get called through two streets.

I see what you're saying. At any other site I would most likely fold J8 in that position, but I probably got carried away with the horrible play that I witnessed here so I figured J8 had higher strength. Another thing is that most players raised w/ JT, QJ, KT, A9, etc... the marginals. Since there was no pf raise I assumed I wouldn't run into kicker trouble since it was likely I would not be dominated (it would be more likely I would dominate someone w/ J3, J7, for example).

I agree in the long run playing this hand, especially in this position is -ev, so I'll work on folding it more often. Thanks for the advice
