Default MTT payout structure - GREAT odds some places!?

    Hey

Ive allways just played SNGs - mostly single table, but somtimes multitables with up to 45 people.

However the normal big tourneys have got my attention the last couple of days, cause it seems to me they sometimes
offers you fantastic good chances of getting ITM. Im talking about the "xx.xxxx$ guaranteed" tourneys.
For example the Pokerstars sunday 1 million guaranteed. Last sunday there were around 5.500 participants, and there
were money to the best 825 players. Thats 1/7 who will get ITM!!!! Problem is that I wont play more than 50$ to play
in a tourny where my chances are still kinda small. But I guess that same think works for MTT tournyes with smaller buy in.
My friend talked about centrebet poker having a 15.000$ guaranteed tourny - 200 participants and top 35 gets ITM.
Again to me it looks like greats odds of making it.

Isnt it normal in MTT's that 1/10 will end up ITM?

I was thinking that some of you might know some tourneys with a relative low buy-in and with greats odds of making it ITM
    like above.

    Please share it guys!

Those type of tourneys almost always have tiny prizes for pretty much everyone who doesn't make the final table. Why would you even want to play in a tourney so you can be one of the players who makes 1.5 times their buyin back. If that's what you're shooting for you'd be better off playing SNG's.

To answer your question though lots of the cheap tourneys on PokerStars give money to the top 20% of the players.

For example I just looked up the payout structure for a $3 MTT with 530 players.

    1st 345.83
    2nd 216.25
    ...
    46th to 63rd 4.61
    64th to 81st 3.81
    82nd to 99th 3.49

The prizes above that are people who would make the money anyway under a normal payout structure so I guess the better chance of making a 19 cent profit would be the reason you're so excited about playing in this tourney.

Correct. The last 100 players or so (from nr 750-825) got their buyin back 1.5 times.
I wanna play them because there IS a chance of making some BIG money while you should be able to win your buy-in back most of the time. So I see it as a cheap investment.
Im just getting tired of the SNGs where the max i can win is 45$ per game. Would be fun to compete over thousands of $ once in a while.

ps. where should i go to find them? tourney - regular - all ??

That isn't true at all. First of all you'll still miss the money most of the time, second of all if you're a good player, the extra money you'll make by finishing in the crappy payouts more often will not make up for the money they take off the top to make up for it, the few times that you do make the final table.

If a tournament has a 20% awards structure it says so in the upper right corner of the lobby. So just go to the lobby and check it out.

Don't Play MTT's as your regualr game. Play them as a change of pace.

IMO you need to play another form of poker to susrtain your BR.

Trust me you will get tired of playing for 4 to 6 hours only to win 1.5 buy in. The real money is at the FT and at the lower buyins the top 5.

Odds of making the FT aren't as good as you think and for the occations where you do get deeper say 20th etc. you'll be disapointed at your prize.

Play them for fun, play them for experience and to shoot for the Gold ring once in awhile.

I agree its exciting to play for a big high ITM prize. Your thinking I don't have to be great just good enough to bet say 800th.

Remember its all realative to your buy in and number of players.

For a shot at these try winning low buyin Qualifiers either MTTs or SNGs.
That way if you do go deep and win your ROI for that tourney is way up there.

    GOOD LUCK
