    Default Donking off 2 buy-ins (400E) in 30 min...Please help

I lost 1 buy in to a donk who couldn't lay down AA to my trips - but hit the runner-runner straight....then these hands come up. I think I played them decent, but look them over and let me know if you see anything.

Hand #1 - I am seen as tight and aggressive at this point. Opponent is a little looser than me, but has not done a lot of splashing. I think I should have potted the turn...and fold to any raise. The blocking bet on the river was not enough either I don't think...invites a raise.

Opponent does raise preflop and in position, but is a little bit of a LAGG and limps sometimes.

Hand 1 - blocking bet on the river might invite a raise - yet unless the opponent is overly aggro/bluffs hard on the river to scare one off, then it doesn't invite that big of a raise without the Jack.

Hand 2 - the guy has an 8 here

Hand 3 - I don't mind a check-behind here - if he's chasing, he won't call any bet missed anyway...if you're beat he will certainly reraise and you'll most likely have to call as the extra four is not a scare card. He didn't fold the turn when the ace showed up, likely completing any hand you might have continuation bluffed with on the flop...so either he's chased or caught something better than a one pair hand...sucks to lose value in these spots but I hate being reraised on the river in these scenarios, and it's hard to tell where you stand here.

Hand #1 - What is a good ratio for a blocking bet...am I betting to little in these spots? Can I be more certain of this hand if I bet the pot on the turn?

Hand #2 - should I even call the reraise on the flop...this is a very scary reraise for me and I don't think I can call anything else the rest of the way anyhow...so folding would be fine here...what can he reraise with here that I beat...not a lot. Should I be C/R in this spot or would a C/C be a better line here.

Hand #3 - screwed me up. I don't value bet enough which is something I have been trying to do more of, although I laugh at this, cause you have to value bet for a reason...not because you think you should do more of it. The call on the turn should have tipped me off, although the 4 pairing made me think I was good. I bet 20 on the river, he raised to 40 showing AK...

Hand 3 I check the river [no vlaue bet].

There is something I have learned at that site when raising AX hands.
Unless it's AK [TPTK] I'm not going to be betting REAL hard unless I get two pair by the river. Too many donks on this site call with AX and end up catching two pairs and taking you to the cleaners with it.

You might want to start being more cautious when the boad pairs as in hand 1 and hand 2?
It's not THAT farfetched that Villian has a J in hand 1, and an 8 in hand 2.

#1: why on earth would you bet less on the river than you did on the turn
#2: pretty damn obvious you are beat on the flop, easy fold
    #3: i definitely check behind
  6. #6
What do you recommend for Hand #1?
  7. #7
check? i see no need for a blocking bet here. what hands could he have that you possibly beat? a busted flush draw and QQ...and he definitely wouldnt raise QQ here because it has showdown value. your bet is just asking to be raised by everyone and their mother.
  8. #8
Is the turn bet enough...of should I be betting more?
  9. #9
well i would have played the hand totally different, but i guess on the turn im either checking or potting it, i probably would have bet more on the flop, maybe even a c/r

I C-bet quite a bit...wasn't worried about the trips at the moment, and thought I could get my opponent to call with much weaker hands a lot of the time here and I don't mind building a pot. I think he calls the flop bet with 88+ and maybe even AK (and obviously anything with a J in it...there shouldn't be too many hands that he holds a J with here IMO). The turn is maybe where I made the mistake...bet harder I think, I had actually thought checking here too, to disguise my KK, although this would have cost me a lot more if he holds the J. The river bet was obviously begging to be stomped on.
