Hand 1 - You're nuts! That will barely work, and it seems like you risked way more than was even close to being in the pot.

    Hand 2 - Seems standard

I think smaller bets get it done in both cases.

How so? Are you suggesting a min-raise in Hand 1? I'm not confident that would get him to fold and if I raise any more than that then I'm pot-committed to call his all-in with my amazing six outs to the straight or the full house. I'd rather just use as much fold equity as I can by putting him all-in.

Regarding Hand 2 you may have a point.

They folded both hands, in Hand 1 the guy used most of his timebank before he folded.

I made this play because I thought that flop was a great flop to float on in a blind battle and it felt like there was a solid chance he had air, and that with me showing this much strength I could also push him off some crappy one pair hands. Despite his stack size he didn't really seem like a calling station to me.

Assuming I have 6 outs when called, he has to fold about half the time for this play to be +EV, so I really don't think it's as terrible as you guys are saying although I'm not sure if it's +EV or not. FWIW I'd play the same way most of the time with 55 or a big ace.

2nd hand is fine, first hand is close IMO. But messing around with shorties is fun of course.
