Default Wow, I almost forgot how fishy it gets at 25NL (low content)

Two limpers and the two blinds go to the flop. I am in the big blind with and am playing for free.

The flop is . Retard #1 bets out 50 cents into the $1 pot. Ordinarily this is an easy fold for me but retard #1 has shown a strong propensity to weenie-bet with total air, so I'm going to float for a minute and see if I can steal his money. Unfortunately retard #2 calls behind me, so now I'm losing interest in the hand unless I catch a miracle card.

The turn is my miracle card, the . Retard #1 bets 50 cents again, and I raise to $2. Ruh roh, retard #2 raises to $6. What's he got? Retard #1 folds while I think about it. He could definitely, definitely be in here with T9. But he could also be in here (and make that raise) with 87, 86, 76, 65, A5... the list goes on. I decide to be brave and NOT fold the 2nd nuts against a retard, so I call, planning to value-bet the river.

The river is a thoroughly crappy . I do not lead; I instead check, but planning to call most reasonable bets, if he bets. He checks instead.

He flips over AA. I win.

    What is with these guys?

Thats quite funny Did they berate you for being in the hand with 95o after to make it perfect?

Sadly, no. In fact the guy with AA slunk away with his tail between his legs - he left the table almost immediately. I assume the other guy was too zoned out on his meds to notice that he lost the hand.

If you had pushed, you woulda taken his stack..

    Push the turn, no doubt.

Easiest turn push in history, and if you're not willing to go to the felt with the second nuts shouldn't you probably be folding the flop? His re-raise with AA turned out to be a great play because it bought him a free showdown. Of course, I doubt he understood that when he was doing it.

Yeah, I thought about that after the fact. I was playing this hand in a very distracted manner while doing some work, so my play was sub-optimal all the way around, I'm sure. But not quite to the degree his was. I don't know if I should have just pushed the turn though, considering we were both over a full buy-in. Idiot though he was, he might have actually folded his aces at that point (I actually thought he had two pair, which amounts to about the same thing on that board.) Reflecting on it now, I would have preferred to three-bet the turn and make it $12 or $14, and then push the rest on the river if it came to that. Basically I thought he was probably really weak (drawing thin or dead), or there was an outside chance he had the nuts; I didn't think he had a weaker straight than mine and therefore I didn't want to give him an easy fold. Although looking back on it, this guy was so dumb that he probably wouldn't have folded even on that board.

So yeah, I left some money out there.

it actually cost him $6 when he was drawing dead, and I don't think it was a great play.

Villain's only great play was checking behind on the river.

I meant to say cheap, not free. Do you never make a small raise on the turn in position when you're not sure where you're at and you want to buy a cheap showdown, instead of facing a huge bet on the river? I think it's a good play and I do it fairly often if I don't think my opponent is aware enough to figure out what I'm doing and bluff-raise me (so that if he does come back over the top, I know I'm beat). It's like a blocking bet in position.

It's more the sucky river card that gave him a free showdown than his raise, in this particular case.

^ true dat. I was betting any river except a 9 or an 8, even including any club which is technically a scare card. He only got a free pass because that was a terrible river for me.

Anyway, lesson learned about being overly cautious with the 2nd nuts:
