Lay down QQ preflop in micro limits?

I'm happy with the way this turned out, but if I'd known more I likely would have folded the hand.

What's the right way to play QQ when reraised at low limits? I figured I'd see a flop, hope for a set (ideally top set), play it defensively otherwise (A on the flop = bad, possible bigger overpair out there). Biggest hazard is there are a lot of donks out there, and it's hard to judge...

You are right. It's very hard to read donks at micro limits. Sometimes they really have the monster hand, and sometimes they dont. Which is why I can't wait to get out of 10 NL hehe. Observe.

By the way, I'm down bigtime with QQ in micro. (JJ too). Mainly because crap like this keeps happening:

Most not as extreme as this bad beat, but most of the time it's an Ace or King hitting the flop, turn or river and I lose to A2o or K4o hehe.

Well, it turns out I can be a donk too. Just had a multitabler just do this to my aces -- he held TT instead of QQ though.

<sigh> I will learn to lay it down when I think I'm beaten. I remember thinking "this guy could have called my reraise with TT..." Was more worried that I was folding to a steal attempt though (like 3 hands earlier someone else raised my $2 bet with J high when I held QQ -- he was a donk and I folded).

Preflop I dont really think you can play for set value against this short of a stack. Now, Im not saying I would fold this, but Id play it differently. Preflop you have you be raising more than 3xBB, at .5/.10 my standard raise was 0.50. If you were to make a $0.50 bet, and were minraised to $1 by this shortstack I would push. As played, Im pushing the flop. Against a full stack I would raise to around $1.20-1.50, against this shortstack you might as well push and get them all in on the flop.

Revolver, I guess that first hand can show its hard to read unknown players but dont post bad beats in other peoples threads

Yeah, my standard opener at 10NL is .50, $1 if everyone has limped around to me in LP. That either gets the blinds or isolates, usually.

I find it almost impossible to lay down QQ preflop at $10NL. Tun into AK unimproved, JJ, 99, etc against the shoties as much as AA/KK...

i don't know why you'd ever even consider folding here, regardless of stack sizes

I'd probably just push against a guy this short, but calling certainly isn't a mistake and one of the two is always better then folding here.
