Hero and Villian have full stacks.
UTG is a good player. (better than me). He is on all 3 of my tables and at least double the buyin at each.

UTG limps
Hero is in LP with KK.
Hero raises to 6xbb, UTG calls.

Flop: AA<brick lower than 9> (Pot is $13.5)
UTG checks, Hero bets $10, UTG thinks…calls.

Turn is a brick.
UTG checks, Hero?

River is a brick.


After his flop call I was done. The turn check could very well be to induce a bluff. If he checks on the river, do I find a value bet?

Given the read, I check the flop and raise his turn bet.

We don't want to play a big pot against a strong player in a way ahead/behind situation. I'm going to assume he's strong enough to take this away from us or otherwise make our life difficult. Generally, I just try to get to showdown in spots like this. I like to play big pots when I'm up against a fish or can put myself way ahead of someone's range.

If we'd bet the flop and probably only raised to 5bbs preflop we could have c-bet the flop and been done with it.

Yes. It's raised pre-flop, 3 bets gets a lot of the money into the center of the table.

Axs is a bread & butter hand. Read said nothing about multi-tabling nor playing like a nit.

That was sort of my reason for posting. Thinking along the lines of...if I respect him and his play, would he be likely to have an A in this spot. The problem is AK, AQ may limp call raise UTG. So I guess we have to give him credit and play it careful.

To rattle off a few "good players"

JacksInTheHole - Maybe a fish, certainly thinking. Plays lots of hands, strong hand-reader, knows how to grab an unloved pot from the typical weak players.
PiratePeaty - Big bad postion bully. Otherwise a nit, except he doesn't fold good hands post-flop without good cause.
LukiePlaya - Very strong ABC TAgg who knows how to play DEF too.

All 3 of them have different ranges here.

Well, my reads suck I guess. During the hand I would have said he isn't likely to float the flop. It was checked down and he shows JJ.

I guess he correctly read me for a C-Bet and got to showdown cheap.
