What hands do you put villain on that you are trying to get him to fold?

Despite any reads on this villian, I kinda like it. Even if he does have an A it looks like he walked into a full house.

If I know he's a player I should have respect for I don't do this though.

I guess it really just depends on what your range preflop is for the villain to limp/call a minraise, its probably fairly wide but not huge. Missed PPs are KK, JJ, TT, 88, 77,, 55, 44, 33 and 22. You beat 22-55, KK is almost never folding here, JJ is close and TT may, but with the line you took I doubt we are folding TT+. So basically we are hoping to fold 9x and 88, and 77. What 9s is he limp/calling a raise with preflop? 98s? A PP is fairly likely, and it seems like it would probably be something like 88 or 77 as most will raise TT+ preflop. I guess this hand really just depends more on what hands you put him on preflop. If he is fairly tight and would limp/call with PPs or maybe SCs then this river raise is probably good to fold those hands out, if he is looser though then I would probably find a fold as his range would include more than the hands we want to fold, it would have hands that we lose to and would call a raise.

I dont think we are ever getting an Ace or even a Queen to fold here, maybe a queen but thats very unlikely.

Im not sure how much sense what I wrote makes, I typed it out while thinking about it in my head, so Id like to see what other people think of my logic here.

On second thought, I think you're right about the ace, but I believe a queen would fold.

    Renton,

what hands are you checking behind on the flop with the button, calling a turn bet from the CO after he's seen a whole lot of weakness, then raising the river with when the 2nd ace comes down that doesn't qualify as 'air'.

Your hand looks transparently weak, and it is.

That said, he might be too weak to call anyway.

in a van by the river
I really don't like this play first he min raised PF which tells me that he is a donk already, And that makes me think it is really possible that he has a A I don't think he would fire a second barrell on the river to throw your off your hand so I think he called your bet

    Exactly.

I didn't make this play because I thought I could push him off a good hand. I made it because I knew he was too weak to call a raise, yet I figured my hand was too weak to call.

Not the kind of spot I would pick to float a shit log.

so you'd've just folded to the turn bet?

Yeah, he's betting into 3 players and you're first to act after him. The threat of someone else having a hand (although small) forces us to tend to either be a little tight here or go for the re-steal to shut out luke-warm hands that might have looked up that bet. Although a raise in this spot isn't exactly projecting strength to aware players either.

I called the turn putting him on a Q, 9, 6, or flush draw. I figured he wouldn't be able to call a big raise with either of those hands on the river (except maybe the Q).

I think a lot of pairs look you up on this river. Your raise doesn't have any implied threat.

if the guy is weak enuf to minibet preflop i bet hes dumb enuf to look u up here with a lot that beats you.

I raise preflop, but I like the river play ONLY against book players. Anyone who is creatively thinking about the hand will know you do not have an ace, and will look you up with a lot of hands.
