check/fold - the 7 ruined your hand - you should send a blocking bet, since its easy to think he was calling you with a flush draw -

Probably check-fold unless opponent is bluff-happy. Most players would wuss out when faced with this bluffing opportunity, since it looks like you're trying to induce a bluff.

i don't want to increase your WPP or anything, but can you explain this just a bit Gabe? I would appreciate it - I basically think you mean a large bet is most likely a bluff and a small one is going to be a value bet - but in this case, do we really want to try and pick off a bluff? All we beat is AK....

Who is villian? I'd definitely check and re-evaluate based on how much he bets and his timing. Also, bet more on the turn.

we beat any flushdraw that didn't also pair. when people use their time to call down with a flushdraw they usually like winning the pot if they miss and the other person stopped betting.

I led out. I hadn't played too much with this guy but my initial read was that he was pretty passive. I put him on either a pair or the flush draw. Since he didn't strike me as the type that would bet a missed draw, I elected to go ahead and bet. My reasoning that was if he had the flush draw there was little benefit in me trying to induce a bluff. Betting though has a chance to get higher pairs other than 7's to fold as I could have very well been betting a pair of 7's the entire way or even had hit a backdoor FD. He folded pretty quickly though so he was probably on a draw.

I don't like my line so much. It's definately a mistake against more aggressive players I think because it doesn't give them the chance to bluffed a missed draw and they'll call down often enough with an over pair like 8's or 9's. Except against the most passive players I think check-calling is probably the better line. I just wanted some input.

If you read him for being loose passive then betting the river is a big mistake. Your hand is not strong enough to value bet and is only a bluff catcher. Since you don't think he will bet a missed draw, there is no harm in checking. I doubt he folds many better hands. I would check/call against most players for sure, but I would never ever bet here.
