    Default New Music

I need some new music to check out. I've been listening to the weirdest combination of new stuff including that new justin timberlake song, miss murder by AFI, new breaking benjamin cd, and a beatles craze. I need something that's either new (anything but country oh and hardcore rap).

Preferably stuff fun to drive to, I seem to be doing a lot of that as of late.

Try hip hop. The Dallas hip hop station has been blowing me away lately. I generally listen to jazz or NPR, but I think hip hop might be the 'jazz' of this century...

    Default Re: New Music

I am listening to "Best of Moog" right now. Really old pop hits and public domain songs remixed electronicly with psychadelic instruments and drum/bass beats to make them better. Interesting stuff.

The newest Flaming Lips album is good (Yoshimi is better though), and the newest Neko Case album is good as well (Blacklisted is better though). The new White Stripes album is their best yet, and they really demonstrate their talent and versatility (well, Jack does; Meg continues to demonstrate her mediocrity).

If you're looking for good Hip-Hop, you can't go wrong with Run-DMC. I can't vouch for their newer stuff, but judging by their older stuff, the new albums are probably good too.

Go to pandora and start a station with "LTJ Bukem" or "Roni Size" good transient/drum & bass.

I tried the bukem thing, pretty cool. You know of anything a little more ambient/instrumental? I like a lot of the technoish stuff but not really ini the mood for anything this hard. I'm trying to think of good example's of what I'm looking for. Do you remember the kpax soundtrack? Or if you've heard of NIN similar instrumental stuff (like off of the still album)?

Good suggestions--the last New Pornographers is really good, too.

    Ha, yeah--worst drummer ever.

I can't really be of more help here.

Some Bukem CDs are very ambient/instrumental which is probably what you want. Some are too uppity for me.

You could always try your public library (if you know what CDs/artists you want). I've gotten well over 100 CDs (my library system is #1 in the country though).

    you could try this guy:

    http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=129535

blatant self promotion i know, sorry! but you won't find a single country or hardcore rap tune in there! (there is a hip hop collaboration I did with an english guy at the bottom of the page though)

BTW Caravan, hannover sky are among the funkier, acid jazz, trip hop type tunes on the page.

Hmmmm, not quite sure where it fits in wrt techno, but for ambient/instrumental stuff Zero 7 are always a good bet. Especially the new stuff with the Jose Gonzalez (also an amazing album) collaborations.

dr. dre - 2001 is never a bad choice.

i listen to a lot of stuff, but am really into the whole jam band/improv thing at the moment. if that's your thing, i'de suggest checking out widespread panic, moe., disco biscuits, and umphrey's mcgee.

slightly stoopid and pepper (not rhcp) arent bad either. white stripes are definitely good though, i think they fall into jam.

seems like most people here are into the whole emo/pop thing though. ugh. sad to say i used to be too a few years ago.

if you like techno check out anything by DJ Sasha or Paul Oakenfold.

I listened to both of them. They are decent from a house (aka "typical") techno standpoint. I don't really like the general style so I can't get into either one.

Anyone who likes these should check DJ Keoki, specifically "Disco Death Race 2000"
