    Default General Thoughts on This

These seem to be the kind of hands I'm losing my money on. Could you tell me what I'm doing wrong here? What you think he has? etc

No reads on the guy but I thought it was suspicious how he limped the SB then reraised me so I decided to play back. Also I had just won three previous pots without showing down. So I kinda thought he was testing me initially.

Texas Hold'em $0.50-$0.50 NL (real money), hand #831,794,272
    Table soooted's HE, 10 Aug 2006 08:56 AM

Seat 1: bebac ($33.90 in chips)
    Seat 2: SPiT2 ($13.75 in chips)
    Seat 3: Droopy113 ($53.05 in chips)
    Seat 4: Raffa24 ($57.80 in chips)
    Seat 5: Galapogos [KH,AD] ($129.35 in chips)
Seat 6: roentje ($46 in chips)
Seat 7: HPMinos ($68 in chips)
Seat 8: tuxigood ($4.80 in chips)
Seat 9: emilianoff ($42 in chips)
Seat 10: lasanoovi ($48.75 in chips)

    ANTES/BLINDS
Raffa24 posts blind ($0.25), Galapogos posts blind ($0.50).

    PRE-FLOP
roentje folds, HPMinos folds, tuxigood folds, emilianoff folds, lasanoovi folds, bebac folds, SPiT2 calls $0.50, Droopy113 folds, Raffa24 calls $0.25, Galapogos bets $2, SPiT2 calls $2, Raffa24 bets $4, Galapogos bets $8, SPiT2 folds, Raffa24 calls $6.

    Probably should have reraised $10?

    FLOP [board cards JH,3S,7S ]
    Raffa24 bets $5, Galapogos bets $15, Raffa24 calls $10.

    TURN [board cards JH,3S,7S,7D ]
    Raffa24 bets $32, Galapogos folds.

That's all there is to it. Should I even get this deep when I find something odd about a guys play unless I know he's a maniac or very aggro?

Limp, reraise AA/KK is the new slowplay. Best advice Fnord ever gave me (well, 'lecture', actually) was about my tendency to try to contest every raised pot I got involved in. Sometimes you've just got to give it up on the flop and move on.

Why are you re-min raising PF? For information? Are you hoping to induce a push so you can fold?

    I don't like the re-raise preflop.

Galapogos, I have a lot of respect for your posts and your play and have actually played against you at Hollywood (if that is you ...).

IMHO, on this hand, esp with A K os, I would have called the PF reraise to see the flop. As said earlier, the new "slow play" is limp and then reraise. I believe it's been said that AK is a drawing hand and would like to see all the cards hence my first call. Then on the flop, I would have called his raise to see one more card and then I'm out unless a reasonably priced draw presents itself (of course there was none here and the 2nd 7 doesn't help things).

When I see a 3 bet preflop, I get nervous unless I have a high PP. Of course, that's just me. Maybe that's a leak.

This statement is a leak. Do you always disolve credit the first time someone seems to plays back at you? My attitude would be...

"Seems like he's playing back at me. I hope so. I guess I'll find out soon enough, and create a +EV situation out of his foolish clumsy attempt to put me in line. Until I see a pattern of playback however, I fold my AK, a notoriously bad, reverse implied odds hand in this spot".
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

So I take it the early consensus is to call and play it out from there. This seems to be the biggest leak in my game. Someone's play doesn't make sense or comes accross to me as a bad bluff and I react by trying to bully them out of the hand with air or near nothing.

And yes TerryToma I was trying to induce the push as at 25NL - 50NL reraising someone who has AA-KK pretty much gaurantees an insta push as most guys aren't all that creative yet. Plus I wanted a decent amount of money left behind so I could force him to fold if I felt he had nothing on the flop.

Whatever the case I don't like this play either. But I do it often and I just wanted to see if anyone thought there was some merrit to playing like this as I put myself in these situations too often. I'm not losing huge amounts on these hands but I'm not exactly going places with them either!

Wow that is great. I love the "notoriously bad, reverse implied odds hand"!! That puts into words how i feel about AK.
