Looking to make the switch from SNG's to cash games

Hello everyone, ive been playing SNG's for most of my career on pokerstars. Ive played around 400 games and im averaging $1 profit per game, but thats rounded down, its really about 1.50 :P. anyways i won a MTT a couple days ago and now im thinking of running cash games instead of sit n go's since theres more profit potential. I know im good at sit n go's, but i really want to get into the cash game thing since it seems the best way to go from a financial standpoint. My BR is currently $370 since i cashed out a nice lump of money to enjoy Anyways what are some thoughts for someone whos fairly good at poker. what should i do differently in cash games than sit n go's? anything i should read? i have pokertracker but cant use it. links to articles perhaps? id apprecite any help, im playing 10 NL right now just getting a feel

2. I am not convinced that cash games can make more money than SnGs. I believe aces (on this site) makes his killings by 8-tabling 6max NL Cash Games, and he makes six figgaz. The games are different, not necessarily better.

But some of it was:

- work on postflop play
- there is a difference between cards and poker.
- at 25 NL, you can play CARDS only and win solidly.
- you can play POKER to mix it up a bit, but it's not really needed at 25 NL.

If I had the same BR you did I would be playing 25NL or 10+1 SnG. So I used those in these calculations.

I assume a decent-good player can make 6bb/100 hands or 25% ROI at Sngs.

6bb/100 hands at 50hands/hr with 0.25BB = $0.75 an hour per table
25% ROI with 45min avg a game til won or lost at $11 SnG = $3.67/hr per table

So you would have to 5 table ring games to make about the same as 1 tabling SnGs. But this is assuming you have similar stats and over a long period of time.

Profit potential in cash games is much greater than in tournaments. A long term roi of 25% for sngs is unheardof .

ilikeaces made/makes a lot of money playing sngs, but I have seen posts by him specifically saying that his $/hour potential is greater in cash games.

A deepstacked cash game is more profitable than sngs because the skill edge is larger. The skill edge is larger because you can not only extract EV from preflop decisions, but also from postflop (in fact the largest portion of our edge in cash games comes from postflop play). There is virtually no postflop play in sngs, so it relies entirely on a balanced preflop strategy.

Jishu, Try Party's beginner tables if you're not already a member there - you're not quite rolled for $25NL and there IS a big difference between the tactics you need to use in cash games and it'll take you a while to get used to it. After 45 days the beginner tables aren't available any more but by then hopefully you'll be up to $500 and confident in your new discipline.

Problem is that I dont have any sort of online banking things. My credit cards arent CFT (or something) certified so they cant be used for that, so i had to mail my money to stars. Ive made alot off stars already so i might as well give them some more business :P. BTW im playing at 10 NL and im bankrolled for that. I might go down to 2c/5c just to learn.

I started at 25NL with less cash than you. My method was win a SNG and I play a session at 25. Lose it and I would play SNGs until I got to the same bank roll. Now I do that at 50NL. Ring and SNGs are different animals entirely. Hands I wouldn't play in a SNG I have little problem playing in a ring. Marginal decisions that I wouldn't push in a SNG I might push in a ring. In a SNG I would try to figure a bet on the end that might get me the most chips, in a ring I want to most money.

Personally I would stay away from the micro limits if you have established yourself in SNGs. Find a level where you can play optimally even if your BR isn't up to par. You will find out quickly enough whether you should be at that level and take it from there, even if that means going back to SNGs for a while.

and you play with the same opponents for more hands, sometimes, so you get better reads on them
